Check if the leak is from the hose, it could be a loose clamp or bad hose. It could also be a bad water pump that needs replacement. An engine wash is good for you to trace the leak correctly. If you have the chance, get a scanner connected to the car. Some shops would let you borrow their scanner to check if there are errors. If you have issues with the actual idle it may also be caused by low coolant levels or an IAC valve that just needs cleaning or may be faulty. If the idle is good and its just the gauge then check its cables for loose wires or grounded one. You may also have a gauge that may have gone bad.

The radiator coolant leak needs to be addressed FIRST. Low engine coolant can not only affect your idle speed, but it can cause serious engine damage. If coolant is dripping off of your power steering pump, the most likely problem is a bad water pump. The 3.0L V-6 engine in your car requires that the TIMING CHAIN be loosened and secured to replace the water pump. This is not an easy job and requires some special equipment.

If you still have idle speed problems after your water pump has been replaced and the coolant level is correct, then you should first check for vacuum leaks. If you don't find any leaks, then I recommend diagnosing your idle control system using the appropriate scanning equipment.

Why does my 2005 chevy colorado steer so hard I can't turn the wheel unless I'm moving forward also when applying the brake when coming to a stop my engine wants to cut out rpm dropping below 500 help

You may have more than one problem. Start with the power steering. If the power steering pump is causing a problem it may be seizing causing hard steering at slower speeds and putting an extra load on the engine causing the lower RPM's. Have this checked first.

2006 Dodge 1500 5.7 hemi-Changed the power steering pump. 1,500 miles later the steering is very hard at low speeds. Is there air in the system, bad pump, or maybe rac & pin issue?

Indicates the pump not producing enough,in park rev the engine to say 1200 rpm and see if it acts the same as 20mph turn steering at same time.

Trying to find the problem i as soon as i feel my power steering tank up it leaks all out w n a hr an it runs my cooling fan hydro by a line but i looked an looked on all the lines an cannot find the leak...

Start by checking if the cooling lines run into the radiator. There may be a leak internally on the radiator in the lines run through it. Also check to see if the fluid is leaking from the center shaft on the pulley on the pump. If your power steering fluid is leaking into the radiator your antifreeze will look like a cloudy pink color the same as if your transmission fluid leaks into the radiator. If it is, replace the radiator. If it is leaking out of the shaft replace the power steering pump.

Power steering pump replaced, start to work ok, after 10 milles driving, steering wheel is hard, like pump is not working, under hood everything look ok.

YOU HAVE AIR IN THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM.YOU NEED TO BLEED POWER STEERING PUMP FIRST BEFORE DRIVING VECHICLE.CHECK POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL ADD MORE POWER STEERING UNTIL REACH FULL COLD MARK..RAISE VECHICLE FRONT WHEELS OFF THE GROUND.START ENGINE LET IT IDLE WHILE TURNING STEERING WHEEL LEFT TO RIGHT NON STOP DONT LOCK OR STOP STEERING WHEEL KEEP TURNING IT SEVERAL TIMES CHECK POWER STEERING FLUID IF LOW ADD UNTIL YOU GET COLD MARK ON DIP STICK DONT OVER FILL POWER STEERING PUMP BLOW A SEAL.IF POWER STEERING FLUID LOOK TAN COLOR SYSTEM FULL OF AIR.TURN OFF IGNITION LET CAR SET FOR A WHILE CHECK FLUID LEVEL.IF STEERING WHEEL FEEL STIFF HARD TURNING DONT DRIVE CAR UNTIL YOU HAVE NORMAL STEERING.IF STILL HAVE AIR IN SYSTEM BLEED SYSTEM UNTIL AIR IS OUT.

My rad keeps leaking antifreeze in 2 areas, one in the back one in the front beside the rad.how many hoses to i buy ? also my power steering fluid leaks.do i have to buy one hose or 2 hoses?

time out! is the hose really leaking or is it the radiator itself? no sense replacing hoses to stop a radiator leak. if it is a hose, there is an upper and a lower. your power steering could be leaking at the rack, or a hose (there are 2, a pressure hose and a return hose), or the pump, or the fluid resevoir. you must be absolutely sure where it is leaking before you buy parts unless you are filthy rich, and if you are, you can adopt me real cheap

Power steering fluid is leaking and makes really weird sounds

Issue is not likely to be the power steering pump. The sounds are made when there is low fluid in the pump/system. Cheapest check is to make sure that the feed and return lines at the pinion housing are firmly attached. You could also have a leaking seals in the rack and pinion assembly. If you see bubbles in the power steering fluid and there is pressure in the power steering system, this is a strong indicator that the issue is seals and not the pump itself. In Regina, Canada, Canadian Tire charges $45 for an inspection. To replace the power steering pump is about $300, and just the hoses is about $145. Obviously the $45 inspection is your best bet.

My galant's power steering only works at higher rpm

sounds like the pump is going out, check fluid, check belt, usually when u have to run at high rpm like that sounds like the pump is weak, higher rpms turns pump faster making fluid run through quicker, slower rpm fluid not pumping enough fluid to keep pump working, i believe you need power steering pump, if it goes ot while driving, it would be like driving a car from the 40 or 50s. hard to turn, you may even cause a wreck, you could get hurt or somebody else

I HAVE A 93 TOYOTA CAMRY LE V6, THAT HAS A WATER PROBLEM, THE WATER KEEPS GETTING VERY HOT, ENGINE PUSHES THE WATER OUT TO THE COOLANT RESERVOIR, LEAVING MY RADIATOR DRY. I HAVE REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT AND...

These engines will overheat for many reasons. >>make sure there is no leaks at all, as air will cause the system to overheat while losing coolant at the same time. Depending if the radiator is original or after market, there may be TWO radiator caps (one on the engine and one on the radiator)- the one on the engine usually is faulty because of direct engine heat to the seal.>> On the thermostat housing, there is an O-ring at the end of the feeder pipe, usually leaks especially if the thermostat was replaced and not the O-ring. >>Check also the hydraulic driven radiator fan>>Check power steering fluid for proper levels first. unplug the switch atop the powersteering pump, start engine, rev to 2000 rpm (fan should increase in speed-you should hear it) if not it may be faulty.>> Check system for proper flow- With engine cold, remove the engine side radiator cap and rev the engine(1000rpm) slightly, notice if the coolant is flowing. If not, possible faulty pump, or clogged radiator. Hopefully this helps

Poer steering fluid is leaking. Fan runs slow

Check power steering rack. on the camarys its alittle more common than most cars. poke a hole in the boot and watch for a leak. Nothggn should come out of there. If you have fluid coming from the boots then your internal seals are leaking on the rack. a small hole will not hurt the rack if nothing comes out.

Also check your power steering pump shaft. sometimes the seal will leak
.
I think your over heating problem may be a different problem all together.

Hopefull that helps.

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee leaking coolant and power steering fluid

Just a heads up, $10 bucks will buy you a seal kit for the P.S. pump. I topped mine off for a couple months, then the oring on the high pressure line (from pump, front center) blew and dumped the reservoir in a matter of miles.

The line can be a stinker to get off, recommend driving the car for a few minutes to heat up the pump a little. Don't forget the 20MM wrench.
