Tedjohnson50, It sounds like you have a starter solenoid problem. A weak solenoid on your starter will do this when you try to start the vehicle. A weak battery will do the same thing. A bad alternator will also cause these problems. So the first thing is to have your battery load tested and you charging system checked before you can condemn the starter. Good luck with this.

May be ab bad starter solenoid, or corroded/loose connection at starter, or (ground). Could also be a bad ignition switch. Start from the load; the starter. Test for 12V at starter, OK. Connect short wire from starter and touch sylenoid connection..

connections at the starter or the starter itself. see that the engine can in fact turn over, that it has not seized. the starter has two connections, one big and one small. check that the small one is getting 12v when the key is turned to the start position. if it is, then the starter needs to be rebuilt or replaced

The clicking is the starter solenoid which is normal, the starter motor is not making a good contact due to it's worn, a starter replacement will fix the problem.

Use to have some delay in start now wont start

if your battery voltage is good and its just clicking but wont start it sounds like you have a wiring fault to the starter if the starter has been changed. you will need to check that you have at least 12v to the starter and from the starter .

Try smacking the starter with a blunt object ( hammer or something ) Smack it several times while cranking. It may free up. Listen for the click at the starter. Its prabably a bad starter. Common symptom your describing. If it does start replace the starter.
