Do you have an after-market stereo installed, if so then you could have a wire touching ground. If not then you have a component shorting out.

2001 nissan pathfinder radio keeps blowing a fuse


before you condemn the radio as the problem,check to make sure the fuse is not shared by other accessories.often times other components share the same circuit. one thing you might check is the fuse box itself. if the circuit is loose behind the fuse box this will cause an overheating condition. lose wires causes arcing and overheating is the result. lose plugs where the radio plugs to the main power source {plastic connectors} maybe worn and the pins could be loose or been pushed back causing partial contacts. all this will result in heating in the affected areas. a good ground is necessary to properly complete a circuit or high resistance will result.

Could be a short in the circuit board inside the speedo cluster. Does the fuse blow if the cluster is unplugged ?

Fuse controls lighter


The easiest way it to pull the fuse and look at it. Normally it will look like a solid one piece wire in the middle. If it is broken, then the fuse is blown. On your car I believe that the lighter and radio are on the same "acc" fuse.
