Battery not holding charge, recently changed alternator, and put new battery, car ran fine. then was forced to park car and not use. car satfor 4-5 months then the problems started

Hi Gene:
I'd suggest trying to start from the beginning with this.
Try disconnectinf the battery and charging it fully.
When you re-connect it, the "service engine light" may not be on . that would be nice. If there is a problem the light will come back on. Make sure the gas cap is screwed on tight.
The battery not holding a charge is ypically a separate problem from the service engine light.

Check battery and see if it can be fully charged. If there is an indicator on the battery it should be green or measure the voltage with the engine off and see if it is close to 12Vdc. If the battery tests good there could be a problem with the electrical wiring or a bad device that draws current when the car is off. Glove box light gould be on, trunk light stays on etc...

1996 Plymouth breeze .put in used battery ran well .next day dead. Charged up . Ran again check engine light stays on door light stays on fuel gauge moves to different positions Help. Thanx left ove

I fail to see how you do not believe you have a
failed battery,the used one

Buy a new battery with the correct Group Size for the
car & at least 700 CCA rating

Napa top of the line with NO Caps on top, would be a
good choice

Look on napa web site.they are made by Penn Battery

BAT 8475 690 CCA $112.37

My truck sat for four months now it won't start.

it likley to be blocked jets,,,try tipping a drop of gas ie:10cc,,only into each plug hole then try starting it up, if it just bursts into life and cuts out again its all down to no gas getting to the engine,,,also engines do dry out if left standing around so the drop of gas will lube the pistons as well

Car wont start

check to see if you have an inertia switch or fuel cutoff switch, usually they are mounted in the trunk, when the car gets stopped suddenly, the switch might mistake that for an accident and cut fuel untill the switch is reset
