The coolant fan dose not work on my 97 cavalier

The fan relay is grounded by the computer when the fan is needed.
The fan should come on when you turn on the ac or when the engine reaches 220 degrees.
If you know for a fact the fan should be on, someone would need to check the relay for power and ground then proceed to the fan motor.

Have a 1997 Cavalier that the cooling fan will not

You may have air in the cooling system. You should have a bleeder screw on the thermostat housing or heater tube depending on what engine is in it. With vehicle off and engine cool, open bleeder screw and fill radiator with coolant until steady stream of coolant comes out of bleeder screw. If this does not work proceed with computer diag for a faulty sensor or ecm.

My 1987 Chevrolet Z24 Cavalier cooling fan will

since you have already tested fan and relay and both work, the problem may be the engine temp sensor. There are two sensors. One goes to instument cluster. This is engine coolant temp sensor, the other is engine temp sensor which is usually attached to engine block, sometimes they are connected to thermostat housing with the coolant sensor. You can pully the engine temp sensor and test that sensor same way as relay. (with mulitimeter)

1998 cavalier heats up when idleing. Fan comes on but still heats

Hello senior, whenever the coolant system is opened up there's a possibility you could get air in your system, only way to get it out is by using the bleeder valve, check the coolant temperature sensor it may not be working properly, it tell's the cooling fan when to kick on and off, the condition of the drive belt is also another factor, along with the tensioner and tensioner pulley. it sounds like a problem with the water pump, the cooling fan, or air in your cooling system, to get a good inspection of the water pump fin's you have to remove it.
