Oil pressure gauge reading zero

check the oil pressure first, it should read around 10 to 14 psi. If pressure is inside the range then your pressure sensor is bad. If lower or reads 0 psi your got a engine problem, further diagnosis needed. Good luck.

Can I check the oil pressure by my self? Inexprienced female.don't have money to get it checked, oil light has been on for over two weeks. I have put two 1/2 quarts of oil, still fades in and out....

Sweetheart, you have to check the oil with the dipstick under the hood. Read the labels and look in the owners manual. The dipstick has marks on it where the level should be.

Puting iol in a 1992 oldsmobile

Most vehicles can take between 4-5 quarts of oil. Never rely just on a number. Put 3.5-4 quarts in the car, let it sit for a couple of minutes, pull out the dipstick, clean it, and re-insert it to check the level. Add oil til the dipstick reads as full.

Once it's full, run the motor for about 5 minutes, kill the motor, and let it sit for about 5 minutes, then clean the dipstick and re-check the oil. It may need a little more oil, as the filter may have taken some of the oil.

2006 chevy aveo. the dipstick reads oil is full. but there is oil in the spark plug holes.did the mechanic overfill last oil change. that was 4000kms ago. dipstick still reads full oil

You have oil in the plug holes because the seals that are supposed to keep oil out are leaking-you need to remove the valve cover to replace them.

Have you ever heard of the engine oil reservoir being full and the dipstick reading empty? I just bought an old 1985 toyota pickup truck and it was fine until I had my oil changed. After driving for a...

When your car is low on oil, there is a sensor (sometimes called a switch, as well) that will light up an indicator inside the car to inform you of the low oil level. In some cases, checking the dipstick will show that there is actually oil present, which can be confusing and frustrating because it contradicts the sensor. If this happens to be the case, more than likely the oil pressure switch/sensor is malfunctioning and will need replacing.

Auto transmission fluid check C180 Petrol 1997

The car has to be running when checking the trans fluid. It should have reading guages on the bottom of the stick with minimum/max levels. You should take it out and wipe it then reinsert it to read level...It should have fluid at least on the bottom 2 inches of the stick. If noting then your low and need to add. make sure your putting the trans fluid in the correct place and not mixing it with the oil fill...

Need to refil all fluids and need to know what to use and amounts on a Subaru GL Wagon. 2 wheel 4 wheel. The car has been sitting undriven for over a year. I know it needs tun up also but have no book so...

if oil and transmission is not leaking, then no reason to fill them. The oil dipstick is marked with an "ADD" and "FULL" mark. Pull the oil dipstick and check the fluid level. It is is at ADD or below, add 1 quart and repeat the process of checking the level.

To check the trasnsmission fluid, you have to start the car, let it warm up for a few minutes, and then check the dipstick while the car is running.

Oil level no good readings, how much oil till full

generally when the light comes on in this fashion it indicates low oil. when you check the oil ... put the dipstick in one way... pull it out .. check the level... then turn the blade of the dipstick around so the other side is facing you... reinsert it into the hole and check it again... make sure the dipstick is completely seated in the pipe. i'm not sure i've ever heard of it but the baffle inside the oil pan may have broken (this prevents the oil sloshing front or back when you brake)

How do you read the oil level correctly on dipstick to 1995 Saab 900S?

All dipsticks have an upper and lower mark ..the top mark is the full mark and the lower mark is the add oil mark. Check it with the engine off on level ground.  Also after the motor running at take a few minutes for the oil to return to the oil pan to get an accurate reading.
Do not overfill.
