Our gmc starts fine some days but not others. It cranks but will not start. We have just changed the fuel filter 2 days ago and its been fine but then we parked it up and left it for 2 hours and now it wont start..AGAIN... It seems to be that everytime we park it on a slight hill, it wont start again????

Not sure. Both times that it has happened, there has been about half a tank of fuel in the tank... It happened last weekend and the mechanic looked at it and said it started then wouldnt start, then would start etc.... he changed the fuel filter and we got it back today and it was fine all day and we even turned it on and off several times..no probs....and then left it a couple of hours and wouldnt start...exactly the same as last weekend. Someone has said that it could be the fuel pressure?????

yes a regulator on the pump can go bad and do that try cycling the key on and off a couple times when it does that and see if it starts if so either the regulator is bad or pump is going bad

Van will not start when its cold. it cranks and cranks. once you do get it started it restarts fine. have checked spark and fuel all is good. changed air filter also. no lights come on

I saw something similar to this on a 1991 dodge van a few days ago.. turns out it was the battery. It was odd, because it cranked over fine and had spark and fuel, but would not start. If your battery is good, then confirm that your fuel pressure is ok

I have a 1999 gmc sierra with (as of 30 days ago cat. converter, fuel pump and filter, cap and rotor) changed in garage. regular oil changes, tune ups as of 8 mths. it has lots of cranking power, but...

If i understand you right the truck has been sitting for two years. If it has been sitting that long without running or moving the gas has turned to varnish...I suggest that you drain and refill the fuel tank, and replace the fuel filter located on/in the frame rail on drivers side.

Hard starting

check the battery cable connection that is sandwiched between the battery and the outside cable, It runs the computer and if it is corroded, clean it with sandpaper. Mine was loose and corroded and I would stall out of no where.
