Loss oil preasure in my 351 L

Sure sounds like stopped up return passageways, common in old engines. Or a failing oil pump, not common. Are you sure about this low mileage? Pull a valve cover and check for sludge.

Oil pump been replaced, knock senser and oil sending unit. oil light comes on and load ticking ,when its cold started on my 98 nissan altima

Go back to where you got the work done if you can.If not then i would get the oil preasure checked as the low light tells me the preasure is below 8 psi and the ticking is from the lash adjustors at the tappets verifys low preasure too.

Oil pressure drops to zero at idle on 2002 GMC Envoy after engine warms up

You could have three possable problems that I can think of. 1) Your oil viscosity is too low and you need to change it to a higher level. A 5w/30 or 10w/30 oil may thin out too much when it warms up to normal temp and shows low on your gauge. 2) The preasure relief valve is partially open due to a small piece of debris caught under the seat. Unscrew the oil filter and look at the small disk that is near the threded part on the filter base. Theres a spring behind it to keep it closed so all the oil goes into the engine and not bypass back into the oil pan. Push up on it slightly with a small tip screw driver and see that it fully seats in the hole, put a new filter on, and try it. 3) If these two things don't improve the condition, get a socket for taking the oil preasure sender off and get a oil preasure gauge to test the actual oil preasure the engine is producing. You may have a weak pump in the engine. If the preasure is within good specs, I'd change the sender unit with a new one.
Let me know what happened-

I have a 97 Pontiac Sunfire GT 2.4 DOHC that I just completed the head gaskets on due to major external leakage, now that is done though I have an low oil pressure light on! I can't for the life of me...

when doing headgaskets on thses it is very important that no debri falls into oil hole when cleaning or dissamebleming, also the headgaskets were installed correctly!!. check the preasure with the gauge and go from there,if it does have low preasure then something may have gotten into oil system, also you did change the oil after head job. if oil preasure is low and theres no knocking from engine then put a oil pump in in, most of the time its a bad oil preasure switch.good luck

Low oil pressure light is on on 2000 lexus rx300. Doesn't need oil or an oil change. Not leaking oil.

try replacing the oil preasure switch, if that doesnt solve your problem then have your oil preasure tested, if it really doesnt have oil preasure it will cause internal engine damage so start with the switch and then go from there, hope this is helpful.

Oil light on

first make sure oil level is up, then check or just replace oil preasure switch, if light still comes on, have your oil preasure tested, could be low oil preasure or electrical problem start there. good luck.

Oil light flashing occasionally

It could be a faulty oil sending unit, but it would be advisable to have the oil preasure checked with a mechanical guage to determine if it is a sending unit or low oil preasure. Oil preasure low enough to allow the light to come on is low enough to possibly cause major engine damage.

No oil preasure

First check the oil level. Do this on a level surface. Make sure it's close to the full mark, or in the operating range on the dipstick.
Next check to see how old the oil is. Is the vehicle well past it's scheduled oil change?
If the above checks out, then I suggest the oil pump is bad. Oil light being on, and noisy hydraulic lifter noise is directly related to low oil pressure. The oil light should come on at 3 lbs of pressure.

Rule of thumb is 10 lbs. of pressure for every 1000 Rpm.

Vehicles have a by-pass valve in the oil system. This comes into play when the filter is clogged up. The oil flow goes past the filter.

This by-pass valve is usually located in the engine block, where the filter attaches. It's up in the block itself. Depends on the vehicle, as to whether this statement hold true. There are many designs for an oil system.
