The headlights on my 1997 Plymouth Neon stay on all the time. I think it is the daytime running lightd relay stuck on, but I can't find it. Where is it and how do I get to it?

Headlights wont work properly

Sounds like you have a problem in your headlight switch. As far as them staying on sometimes when you shut the car off are you referring to daytime running lamps or the regular headlights? If it's daytime running lamps that like to stay on and your headlights do not like to turn on then there could be a combination of headlight switch and daytime running lamp relay.

It is possible the relay gets the signal from the headlight switch as well, since they generally turn off when you turn your headlights on.

98 ford taurus headlights will not go off

either the headlight relay is stuck on. or the daytime running light module or relay is bad. to confirm find the relay center and switch the headlight relay out with another relay with the same part# on it. there should several in the relay center with the same part #. If this fixes the problem get a replacement relay. if not try switching out the relay for the daytime running lights. if no dice then unplug the daytime running light module.

It sounds like either the headlight relay is shorted, or the switch is shorted. I'd think that the relay would be in an underhood box, probably near the battery (although there may be several boxes under there). You can swap it with another relay of the same rating (they're usually color-coded in reference to their amperage, so two of the same color would be interchangeable) and see if that works. If not, I'd think maybe the switch needs to be replaced.

Another idea - are these the actual high beams (as in the switch is turned on) or are these the daytime running lights? If it's the daytime running lights, I'd suspect the relay for those (which is separate from the normal headlight relay). You can even try tapping firmly on it a few times with a wrench. A relay is a mechanical switch and they stick sometimes - popping it with a wrench or screwdriver handle sometimes unsticks them.
