Probably not a torque convertor issue. Might be a misfire or not enough fuel getting where it needs to be

After traveling more than 1 km, the car suddenly shakes while accelerating foot on the gas also i put to neutral or give extra gas and the shaking is gone. what would be the problem?


If an automatic it could be the torque converter or TCC Torque Converter Clutch switch which controls the lockup process of the converter. What model and year vehicle is this ?

If Your Stopped or almost stopped and its auto trans when its doing the stalling out I Would say the lockout Torque Converter is not unlocking all the time like its suppose too

1999 oldsmobile intrigue stalls and surges under deceleration conditions only. Idles in neutral fine, accelerates fine, has no apparent miss. Can put in gear and travel great until under negative torque...


Do you have any codes? If so, what are they?
If not, this could be a mechanical problem with either the torque converter itself or some sort of stuck valve in the valve body inside the transmission.
I just replaced the valve body in my wife's 1999 Mercury Sable and it cleared up a number of problems she was having with shifting and torque converter lock up.

Drive vehicle down the road for 20 minutes and come to a stoplight engine stops when you take foot off gas peddle and go to apply brake. To keep vehicle from dying you have to hold the gas peddle down


Have you changed the timing belt? or timing belt guides? How many miles? This does not necessarily have to do with fuel.... Could have to do with air intake or timing as well....

Wont shift into overdrive


Good chance that your TCC (Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid) has gone bad and will need to be replaced. Go to Auto Zone and have them scan the van for the DTC codes, I think the DTC code will be P0740. I looked this up and it's "Torque Converter Clutch lockup"

To check for Converter Clutch lock up, when you are going down the highway about 55 MPH, tap the brake pedal with your lefty foot just enough to make the brake lights come on but not enough to apply the brakes as you keep the gas peddle at the same position. You should get/feel about a 300 RPM rise in the engine. If you don't, then the clutch didn't lock up.

Engine died when comming 2 a fast stop


its a ford, sorry i had to say it im a chevy guy, it could be that you were faster than the computer and your brakes locked up or slowed it down faster than the torque converter could unlock itself, rare thing to happen, happens more offten to two footed drivers, the converter is designed to unlock as soon as you let off the gas, two footed drivers tent to keep a feet on the gas a little when the brake. iff it persist it could be a torque converter issue
