Question about 2000 Ford Taurus

1 Answer

MAP sensor Does my 2000 Ford have a MAP sensor. If so, where is it. I see no mention of it in my Hastings repair manual.

I was hoping it also had a MAP sensor but if it did I guess I wouldn't need a MAF sensor. I didn't want to mess around with the oxygen sensor.

It actually has a MAF sensor (mass air flow) located in the air tube between air filter and throttle body.

Were is the map sensor located at on a 2002 kia spectra

I've checked both of my repair manuals for this vehicle. One is Chiltons, the other is Haynes. They both discuss a Mass Airflow Sensor, but no mention of a MAP. I then checked the book covering my GMC S-15 and found the MAP, but no MAF sensor.
Since the location is different, depending on engine size, my best advice is for you to obtain the same repair manual. It has pictures and leads you step-by-step through the replacement procedure. These books also list the diagnostic codes and what they mean.

    Map sensor testing

Tge best way to test a MAP sensor is with a scanner that can read live data and a manual vacuum gauge, Connect the gauge inline with the MAP vacuum hose. Start the engine and look at the data reading for the MAP sensor. The two should agree within about 1 to 2 In./Hg. (3.3 to 6.7 kPa.)

If you find this to be incorrect, more testing should be done to determineif the problem is the MAP sensor circuits or the MAP sensor itself.

Precise testing procedures cannot be posted because yu did not mention WHICH ENGINE your Camry is equipped with or which Diagnosic Test Code (DTC) you are getting from your computer.

Po107 2000 sl sohc changed 3 known working map sesors i know thats not the problem there is 5 volts on grey wire and b&c wires same thats all i know how to do thats what repair manual said all i got to...

If the intake manifold gasket is leaking it would affect readings of the MAP sensor. So, mechanical repair may be necessary to make the MAP sensor, which is good, read the proper vacuum.

I have a 2000 Dodge Durango with 128,000 miles. The check engine light has been on and off the past few days. The OBD II code is P0108. What does this mean?

P0108 - MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure) Circuit High Input
The MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor measures engine manifold negative air pressure. It's usually a three wire sensor: a ground wire, a 5 volt reference wire from the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) to the MAP sensor, and a signal wire that informs the PCM of the MAP sensor voltage reading as it changes. The higher the engine vacuum, the lower the voltage reading. The voltage should range between about 1 volt (at idle) to about 5 volts (WOT wide open throttle).

If the PCM sees the voltage reading from the MAP sensor is greater than 5 Volts, or if the voltage reading is higher than what the PCM considers normal under certain circumstances, a P0108 DTC will set.

Contact us if need additional details; good luck.
