Question about 2004 Renault 181
This sounds like an issue with your Catalytic Converter (cat) or Electronic Gas Recirculation (EGR) system. These are both in your exhaust system. Both of these parts help control the amount of pollutants in your exhaust (the EGR actually takes unburned gas and recirculates it back to the engine, the cat cleans other pollutants out of the exhaust on their way out the tail pipe). If the cat is damaged it will need to be replaced -- it could be leaking, preventing the engine from having the proper back-pressure when running. If the EGR is bad it could be putting more smoke into your engine than unburned gasoline, reducing the efficiency of your engine. This would make it sluggish while driving. Both of these parts are pretty complex, and should really be taken care of by a professional, or someone with a lot of experience working on cars.
Many times I recommend that people take the car in to a pro to avoid safety issues while working on it ... this is not really the case here. I suggest a pro here due to the sensitive nature of the parts, and the possibility that you will need specialized tools to inspect the parts and take care of the problem.
