Do any of the switches in the driver door work (locks, mirrors). If nothing in the door is working, then this is probably your problem. There is a problem with alot of jeeps various year models with a ground wire separating going to the door. To see if this wire is indeed broken, you need to first open the driver door. Inbetween the door and frame, there is a black rubber tube that houses the wiring harness. You'll probably have to work at it because it's in there to be water tight. After you have that slid back, find the connector that is in the middle of that rubber piece. Shine a flashlight in there and on the body side of the connector, you're looking for either the black wire or orange wire. If it's not attached, you've found your problem. It just needs to be repaired with a **** connector or soldered and heat shrink. Do not use scotch locks, if you were thinking about using them, have someone else repair it for you the right way. It will probably take about 20minutes of working at it to get the rubber piece back on after repairing that wire.

2005 ford taros hard shift into 3rd gear.Transmission light is on. I Disconnected battery to reset the computer. That worked only once for a very short time.

Hi. Before you do anything, check the transmission fluid level with engine running and in park. If the fluid is at the right level, there are 2 levels, a cold and a hot level. If the fluid is low then simply add fluid to correct level and check for leaks in hoses, transmission pan, external oil cooler if installed and axel seals. Normally fluid levels will not go down except if there is a leak somewhere. If the fluid smells burned, then you have most likely will need an overhaul as the tranmission has overheated due to high loads (pulling a trailer in hot temps, or simply because of age and the resultant excessive slippage of the friction plates.
However if the fluid level is good and fluid smells ok then gave the computer code read. Your problem could simply be a loose or corroded wire to or from the transmission causing erratic shift symtoms.
Good luck,
Gary

Window washers do not work

Have you checked fluid level and washer fuse? It is possible ,if temps are cold, that the fluid is frozen in the line or the pump itself.

2006 GMC 2500HD Duramax, started and let idle about 5 minutes then put in gear to leave. Noticed power-steering and brakes not working properly. Tried to turn wheel, back up press brake pedal, suddenly...

Larger than stock tires combined with the fluid being cold could cause this.Low fluid level due to leaks.Try cold climate fluid from gm if it just happend cold and no level problems are present.

1995 Jaguar convertable XJS quarter light windows wont go up

The rear windows are controlled by a timer in the top's ECU. If
the rear windows stop fully closing before your top is closed, the
problem MAY be with top's hydraulic system.

Check your top's hydraulic reserve tank for low fluid level. Lack
of fluid will greatly delay the top's closing sequence, leaving
those rear windows partially open.
Your top's hydraulic pump system is located beneath the right side
of the cubby/storage box behind the front seats. Raise the cover
and you'll see a removable trim panel on the right side. The pump
is behind that access panel.

You can use power steering fluid to top off the tank, but don't
fill it above level indicator line. You may have to add more fluid
after you cycle the top up and down to get the air bubbles out of
the lines.
It could also be a relay. On a 95 the relays that are in the trunk above the battery.
Perhaps, just switching the relays might prove which one is failing..

Shifting weird fluid is good and tranny checked out . shifts late and early sometimes. dont shifts when its not suppose to

That one has a GM 4l30e transmission. BMW has a shift computer. When it is cold it delays shifting to the final gear running the rpm's up to about 3500.

Change the fluid and filter anyway. Cheapest solution. Don't bring it to an idiot to do either. The larger of the two pans must be removed to access the filter. Then reinstall with a new gasket. run it up to operating temp. and top off the fluid through the side pan fill nut. You know you have the correct level when, at operating temp and the car is level, fluid comes out.

If that doesn't do it, you might be looking at a shift computer control module.

Change tranny fluid, now reverse gear not grabing,on flat ground i get some movement, but revs. up,like slipage,...more fld. or less perhaps? any suggestion.95 golf o1m trans.2L.

The 01M needs to be hooked up to a scan tool (VAG 1552) then you'll also need VAG 1924 ATF filler kit or similar.
Procedure:
1) Address word 02- Transmission Electronics
2) Advance to read measuring value blocks -08
3) Select display group -05
4) Observe display field 1 for transmission temperature (must be below 30*C at start)
5) Lift vehicle
6) Place container under trans
7) Bring ATF to test temp (ATF Test temp 35 to 45*C (95 to 113*F)
8) Remove level plug from trans oil pan
9) If ATF drips out of hole when temp is bet 35* - 45*C ATF level is correct and no further action is required. Install new seal and level plug and torque. This completes the ATF check

note: If the ATF drips out the hole by the time the temp reaches 45*C, fill through the filler tube until fluid comes out of the level checking hole.

How to check trans oil level

I assume that you have a 6 cyl. There are two plugs on the trans pan.the big one is the drain and the small one is the check plug. There is a fill on the side. The trans uses ws fluid which is what you need to use. What i do is remove the check plug and add fluid until it comes out. Then start the engine and let it warm up, the recomended temp is 97 to 115 degrees f or 36 to 46 degrees c.As it warms up the fluid will come out, once it reaches the temp range put the plug back in.I use a computer to monitor the temp but a temp gun on the pan will do.
