Try removing the arms and turning the motor on then off this should center the motor. Now replace the arms with them in the down position, they should be in time.

My 1997 GMC wiper motor was replaced. The wiper drive shafts are keyed NOT just splined. How do I time them. When you turn them on, they go down first then up. Driving me crazy.

Put the wipers down near the bottom of the glass in the home position

Cycle the motor with the arm off the motor

Then put the arm on where it all goes together &
makes sense

Where is the wiper motor on a 2002 gmc sierra? Have used motor to replace it. May only be pulse board, but this was the advised solution.

I am assuming the truck is alot like my 2001 yukon. If that is the case, then the wiper motor is underneath the plastic cowl in front of the windshield. Mine was held on by 4 clips on the front and one screw on each side of the vehicle (driver/passenger). Wiper arms will need to be removed and will most likely need a wiper arm puller tool.

The windshield wiper does not run, but i can hear a humming when i turn it on. I was told that it may need some kind of module.

It sounds like you may have a broken drive from the electric motor or the linkage to the wiper arms have broken.. The only way to tell for sure is to strip out the wiper motor and the linkages..which can be a big job and can entail removal of several other parts first.. Try moving the wiper arms manually, with your hands.. If you can move the wiper arms across the screen then the linkages have broken and will need to be replaced as they are not a repairable item..

Replacing wiper motor all went well untill the arms bound on each other what is the correct way to put the arms so they work properly

Leave arms off until the wiper motor has been allowed to complete a run and park cycle.
After turning off wiper switch (and wiper motor has 'parked'), then attach wiper arms - setting their position to the normal parked position.

Need to know how to replace the windshield wiper motor

First remove the wiper arms. Then remove the screws that hold the black plastic grill, you will see the motor. You will need then to disconnect the wiper arm transmission linkage from the motor, then remove the three bolts holding the motor on, dont't forget to disconnect the electrical connector from the motor.Install in reverse order.Good luck.
