This job is a piece of cake! Drain the radiator. Take the hose clamps off both ends of the hose and pull it out. then just slip the new one on and put hose clamps back and tighten them back down. Fill the system back up with water to make sure there's no leaks, which there shouldn't be.

Drain the radiator, there is a petcock on the side/bottom it is plastic tee-handled shaped. then remove the two hose clamps one on the radiator the other on the engine( best with a socket mine are 5/16 inch). Hope this helps Tim.
Note: putting on ramps or jacking up and using approved jack stands gives plenty of workspace

I replaced my buddys two years ago. The part was only like 35 dollars at the dealer and was not hard to replace. One bolt holds it into the water pump and one holds it to the lower part of the engine. It also came with a new o-ring for the end that goes into the water pump.

If rad is plugged/restricted the vehicle will overheat. If thermostat is opening, both upper and lower rad hoses will get hot. If there is a rad problem with circulation, the upper hose will get hot and the lower hose will be cool/warm

I have a leak in my head and need to drain my radiator and remove my thermostat but dont know how.

an easy way would be to get a big pail or something to fit under the lower rad hose. There will be two big hoses going to the rad. If you are looking at the rad from the front of the car, the lower hose is on the right side at bottom of rad. take off the clamp holding the hose and pull it off and catch coolant. If the pail is clean, you can reuse the coolant.
To remove and locate thermostat, follow that lower hose to the engine. The housing it is connected to is the thermostat housing. Usually it is 2 screws to remove the housing and take out the thermostat. Hope this helps

I cant find a radiator drain bolt through which I can replace my fluid. Is the removal of lower hose a solution to this?

the rad drain is located on the bottom of the rad usually facing the motor on one side or the other of the rad.some are pointed straight down to the ground.you can pull the lower rad hose if you can`t find it. it will do the same thing.

How to flush the radiator(cooling system) on 1995 chevy lumina

Wait until motor is cool. remove rad cap and loosen rad drain pet **** under rad. If you can't loosen it or cant find it, remove lower rad hose. let all antifreeze drain. Close pet **** or replace rad hose. Fill with water and rad flush(you can get the flush from an auto supply store or wallmart). Run for the recommended time on rad flush bottle. Wait for motor to cool. Then drain out water. Refill with 50% prestone and distiled water.

Where is the thermostat located on a 1992 passat estate

You will find the thermostat on the lower rad hose. Under the car follow the lower rad hose to the point where it goes into the coolant pump on the engine. If you are replacing it, get a new O-ring for the housing or it will leak. Hope this helps.

Remove and raise upper hose at thermostat end and remove lower rad hose.
Fill rad with a hose and watch for flow from bottom rad hose and/ or bottom rad hose connecton.......water should fall though rad easily.
Honda rads are cheap.....any restriction....replace rad.

Remove thermostat....fill thermostat housing with hose and watch for water flow at bottom rad hose.
Flush good.

Remove heater hoses.......flush back and forth until a good flow is present "With heater control set to hot" if no or poor flow....replace heater core.

Stop leak can plug everything.

Also.......not likely causing over heating....but ....at your mileage,if you do not know if the timing belt has been changed.....CHANGE IT NOW!
Water pump is optional at this mileage.
