Replace the solenoid and/or starter as there is a short internally that is allowing the solenoid to engage the pinion and engage the power to the starter armature.. Everything you have mentioned points to a starter problem

1993 Pontiac Trans Sport will not start. Wiggle wires in engine, slide shifter back and forth, removed and reinserted key, let it sit for a while, and still will not turn over the engine. Nothing. I did...

Check the battery connections--especially the positive terminal. Use a special wire brush tool from an auto parts store (cheap) to clean the posts and terminal interiors. Check the cable going into the terminal for corrosion as well--it may have damaged the interior wire. If no help, use a test light or meter to check for power at the starter solenoid. When the key is turned, you should hear a fairly loud 'click' from the solenoid. If it clicks, test for power at the starter terminal--when it clicks, power should appear at the starter. If so, the starter motor is defective and should be replaced. If no power, then the solenoid is defective. If no click at all, check the neutral safety switch for the automatic transmission or maybe the key switch itself. Hope this helps!

My 1981 corvette won't start...there is no power getting from the battery to the engine...how can i fix this? I have tried charging the battery and jump starting it. I have also purchased a new battery....

If you have no power to anything, such as headlights
radio/wipers etc. The fusable link at the starter may
have fried. Try using a jumper wire from the battery connection on the alternator to the + post on the batt.
If you get you're power back, replace the link wire.
It's a rust colored wire on the battery con. at the solenoid. They somtimes have a yellow tag with the amp rating. This was a fairly common problem back
in the day. Also check for any shorted wires that may
have caused the link to pop, and make sure the alt.
starter and battery connections are clean and tight.
Hope this helps.
