Can we do a live chat please that way I can go through a list of items that may be giving you problems.
The "crank sensor is built in the distributor make sure the distributor is getting 12V and you likely need the distributor replaced if you have already let me know and we'll move on to the next step in the process

Will it crank over ? Can you get spark to the plugs ? Have you sprayed, carefully, carb cleaner into the throttle body to see if it tries to run ?

Will not start when below 45 degree ambient temp. Cranks but no start. While cranking the tach does not see any rpm. Put jumper cables on ad car will start. I am thinking crank position sensor.

I am thinking that battery does not have enough capacity to turn engine over fast enough for crank sensor to see (ooh yeah they have a min rpm too)
as with most computers today lots of things going on all at once like counting 15 rpm of crank shaft before turning on fuel injectors

Yeah, it's time for the timing belt. The crank and the cams sensors have to be on the the exact timing marks. When the belt gets old and start to stretch, it will pop the code. If you do it yourself, get a manual for it and follow it to a "T"

Engine code p0016

Code 16 means there is a problem with the cam and crank sensors. The computer does not think the cam and crank are aligned.
Could be a sensor problem or a timing belt if equipped.

If you put a new camshaft sensor on will it reprogram everything like the timing. And stuff

In a way yes, but your cam and crank still has to be in time by the gears or belt. Really the sensor tells your computer information like engine speed and what cylinder needs to fire next. If your crank isn't timed with the camshaft, then the computer would be thinking one thing, but the piston positons would be in another.

My 2005 dodge neon sxt wont start, no spark, changed cam shaft sensor, coil is good, cant find the crankshaft sensor, also wondered if it could be the timing belt, what do you think?

the crank sensor is on the back side of the engine just above the oil pan there will be two sensors there one is the crank sensor and the other is oil presser sensor. All so check the wires from the crank sensor to the cam sensor. If you think it is the timing belt pull the cover and check it. hope this helps.

I'm thinking the ignition coil is the problem but not sure. i checked the ignition coil but no electricity what do you think?

theres no spark from the coil. okay, what year and make and model is this car and last what size engine, you may have a bad coil but hard to say without knowing the car, this may be due to a bad coil or crank sensor and last broken timing belt all depending on the make.

Hi! As a first course of action the timing belt should be checked first for if its broken it will create more damage to the engine specially when cranked. I strongly suggest that you have a PCM (powertrain control module) checked. The PCM has connectivity on all electrical current that runs inside the car including the engine and transmission. Theres a big possibility that the PCM is damaged thats why the car fails to run. Hope this helps and have a good one!

My belt tore, and my engine wont start now?

I think the crank sensor is on a bracket next to the crank pulley. Did the belt break a wire to the sensor or break the sensor when it came off.
