Engine light on ,p07000 code stuck in 2nd no other code exept the p07000 will scan with OBD2 tomorrow

SOURCE: obd1 scan tool will notaccess

The paperclip test wont work on the OBD2.. tried it many times. i've read at other places that they're replaced all the sensors, fuel filter and even took them to the pontiac dealers. the dealers say there's nothing wrong with them. i've been having this problem for about 2 months now.  still can't find the answer

Code PO158= Oxygen sensor, bank 2 sensor 2. On a V-6 it will be opposite side of engine from #1 cylinder & after catalytic converter

Hello/ The P-0158 code realtes to the Oxygen Sensor.

Specifically, it is as follows: Oxygen Sensor Circuit has High Voltage; Bank 2 Sensor 2.

If it under warranty, take it to a dealer to get it replaced free of charge. If not, go tho a dealer and tell them that you want Oxygen Senso Bank 2, Sensor 2, and have them tel you where it is. Please do not buy an "aftermarket" sensor, they have been known to read incorrectly, and you problem will not be solved.

You had a code. You cleared it, now the car hasn't ran the diagnostic to see if the problem is still there.
Most likly you had an EVAP code, from a loose gas cap, and you have fix the problem unknowingly

Take it to autozone. If you live in USA. They have a thing that checks and they will tell you exactly what the codes mean.

While driving my car over drive light comes on in a few min. the car dies


Does it die at stops or with foot off throttle and coasting? The overdrive light coming on like that is the transmissions equivalent of the engine check engine light. Fault has been detected and code stored. Would suspect with information provided that the torque converter clutch is locking up but not releasing. You may be able to have this code retrieved with an OBD2 scan tool or at local parts store. You are looking for codes in the 700 range as these are all transmission related codes. ie P0741 or P0742. The P0742 is for torque converter clutch stuck on. P0741 is TCC stuck off

what country? having the connector does NOT mean it complies
with USA OBD2 systems and tools, so not posting country , all answers are impossible. if you google the you will see that repeated like 1million times.
LHD or right hand drive?
if in USA, LHD all cars here are OBD2 16pin Dshell connectors.
and 100% OBD2 compliant.
and are all 1 meter steering wheel center , but sady that is like 10 places. i can sniff any out i 5min flat with a flash light.
2nd google hit.

only the FSM covers this.

oddly suzuki puts them in plain site.... ever look for it?

Engine check light on all the time, just had sec hand instrument cluster fitted as the ABS light wouldn't come up, (wof issue) also the sec hand unit now shows 28km when in fact it should be 91 k

When the service engine soon light (Also called the check engine light or engine management light) is turned on this is to alert you to the fact that Powertrain Control Module (computer) has detected a failure somewhere in the systems it controls you may not feel any difference in the way the engine runs, this can be the transmission or the engine or emission system, there are fault codes set in the modules memory for these faults. What needs to happen now is to have the powertrain control module scanned with a special tool called an OBD2 electronic engine control scanner or a OBD2 code reader. Once the code(s) are read then you must perform the diagnostics for each code and make the appropriate repairs based on the findings of the diagnosis that was performed, this is called doing "Pinpoint" testing.

No body can tell exept the Scan tool. Go to a close autopart store and they will scan it for you and tell you whats the code Then you will look for the Code deffinition. Good luck

swaps are super complex topics, endless possibles.

dont expect magic from any TCM.
they cant tell you ever possible way things can be wrong
it will fail to shift right if things are wrong,
the trans TCM can go to limphome mode, read the service manual chapter 21 yet its free, posted here 300 times.
forget the silly engine , light (CEL) use only a scan tool one that can read all factory codes not some $20 tool.
CEL lamp is for failing smog. only. never trust it, if out.

i say bad shift solinoids.
the TCM can see late shift error.s but maybe not all.
stick in 1st is a hard failure.
all inputs to the TCM must be correct for the shift to 2nd happens.
check all inputs.
if those are then see if the TCM did shift to 2nd, but the solenoids ignored the logic inputs to the solenoids.
solenoids have many failure mods
dead. (stuck closed)
stuck open, valve open.
or leaking. (leaking can cause stuck in 1st and confuse any TCM)

leaking means breached, valve leaks where it must not. ever.

this code is a generic code and doesnt exist on this year. you will need to use a better scan tool to get the correct code, it may or may not be a egr code,

The first thing to do is scan the computer to see what the codes are, you may have a bad speed sensor, start by scanning codes first.

All cars 1996 and new have OBD2 (on board diagagnostic) vehicle control systems.
With OBD2 there is about a thousand different possible generic codes, and way more than that manufacture specific codes.
It could be as simple as removing the gas cap while it was running. The computer reads it as a vapor leak, and turns the light on.
The best way find out what is turning the Check engine light on, is to scan it with a code reader or scanner2_bing.gif.
A lot of the big auto part stores have the capability to scan your computer2_bing.gif for free and give you the codes.
Then you can go from there.

My 2004 Ford Focus SE has two warning lights on. One light looks like an engine, the 2nd light is a circle with an ! in the center. No owners manual with the vehicle. I've checked oil, coolant etc.,


The one that looks like an engine is your 'check engine light' you will need to have your vehicle scanned for codes to find out why the light is on. Some shops will even do this for free or at a reasonable fee. The second one you describe sounds like a tire pressure warning light. Check all your tire pressures and make sure they're inflated to manufacturers recomended pressure. Hope that helps.
