Question about Chevrolet Cobalt

I have a 2007 chevy cobolt. The A/C was filterng hot air. I took it to the dealer today and was told that there was a hole in the condensor and I probably rolled over a rock. I find this hard to believe. Is this possible?

Get on your knees or open the hood & educate yourself

The condenser is out in the open in plain site
behind the grill in front of eveything & exposed to
ALL road dust & debris

Every single person who ever owned a car
has replaced a condenser hit by stones etc
or they just corrode away. They are aluminum
and fragile.

You didn't do anything but get insulted by the dealer
Go to a local repair shop & enjoy a more meaningful

May be a little pricy
Not for the condenser but the
A/C evacuation & recharge

My experience with A/C Condensors is that you can take it to a Radiator Shop that welds aluminum and they can repair it by welding the hole closed. I had it done twice on my truck's condensor and it works great. To try and resolve the problem you can put some fine mesh screen in front of the condensor to keep debris from puncturing it.

My AC blows hot air at stop lights. It works great when the car is running on the free way, but does not work when the car slows down. Any idea what the problem is????

Have you radiator clutch fan check out, sounds like its bad, air blows through radiator and a/c condenser while driving and no air blows through at stops, will cause a/c pressure to go up and not cool.

AC blows hot air, Heat works fine

Chances are you got it fixed in the winter and they didnt think to check your A/C condenser. The Condenser sits next to or in front of the radiator cooling unit. THey get punctured and leak freon. The heat being blown is indiciative that your blower and control unit is fine. If the repair was done by a reputable body shop or the dealer they should have checked it. If they havent checked it then they failed to do their job properly and you should have it reviewed. A lot of times they will see the radiator is undamaged and overlook the condenser. Take it aback to the dealer and have it reviewed. Tell them to specifically check the condenser unit

Intermitten A/C problem on my 1995 suburban

Unfortunately, the A/C systems on the GMT400 (92-99) GM SUV's were not particularly reliable. A fuse may have blown (unlikely), compresser may be bad, the condensor could be out, or the entire system may need replacement.
My advice? Take it to a different mechanic, or a dealer.
