1 Answer

I have a 2005 tacoma 4x4 and when I go to start it the lights will dim then flicker and if I wait a moment they will come on bright but when I go to try and start it again they will flicker and it wont start, I tried cleaning the battery cables thinking it might just be a bad connection but it didnt help.

I have included a wiring diagram of the starting circuit, as you can see from the diagram there is two power feed wires from the battery one of which goes to the starter the other to the power distribution box the only way the lights and starter could be effected is if the battery were the problem. the lights should not go out wile cranking the engine if they do have the battery load tested not just tested for power, there might be a cell plate grounding out when the battery is put under a load.

THE LIGHTS IN OUR UPSTAIRS BATH HAVE STARTED TO SLOWLY FLICKER DIM AND BRIGHT, DIM AND BRIGHT.

Replace your breaker in the breaker box, and I wouldn't use these lights till its fixed. Kill the lights, kick the breaker to the off position This is the first thing that happens before an electrical house fire.

Tacoma won't start, or shift out of park.

Try putting foot on brake, or is key in ignition, also over-ride button by shifter. Auto's have safety micro switches in these places so not to have car in drive and start, "extremely dangerous" Try this first easily missed. lol

Headlights won't go on; brights, parking lights OK

Hello,I see you have a problem with your low beams inoperative. It sounds as if your multi function switch has either gone bad. If you will dim and brighten your lights the switch may go back to working. You have to shake it in all directions. If they come back to working you will want to replace the switch as soon as posible on this car. Please rate this answer, Thank you.
