Question about Ford Escape
We own a 2005 Mercury Mariner (same car) and our gas door is opened by hand. there is a pin that extends on the inside of the door to keep it closed and maybe that piece is stuck. I would suggest using a pry bar of some sort. Use a towel or rag to protect the finish and then just pry the door open. You may end up having to replace the locking pin, or it just may need a good spray of some lubricating oil.
