Question about 2001 Ford Focus

1 Answer

I have a 2001 Ford Focus. In hot temperature weather, when I drive the car for a while in city traffic, then stop at a place (e.g. to get petrol) it happens that the car starts but will cut out. If I put it into neutral, start and accelerate it will stay on until I have to slow down or break at which stages it cuts out. If I leave the car for about 20-30 minutes and start again, it will work fine. Any idea what it could be? We already had it in the garage twice and they replaced several parts but obviously haven't found the real problem yet.

It doesn't 'shudder' at all. It never happened in winter but the last time it did happen it wasn't actually a particularly hot day, just average. There have been times where the faulty episode happened more than once a day but sometimes it's just once. Replaced: air intake? A number of cables ('PVC valve add tube')? Thanks!

My sister has a 2001 ford focus and yesterday when she was driving it home, the car stopped in the middle of traffic. i tried starting it but hope no luck. please help me before the car is towed.

first thing to do is have the OBD codes read by a mechanic, this will point to which sensor/switch is at fault.Just a thought, it does have fuel in the tank , put a can in as may have a faulty gauge ,keep me posted if you wish

How to check tranny fluid

To check and add transmission fluid on your Ranger:
1. Drive the vehicle 20 miles (30 km) to reach normal operating temperatures.
2. If driven in hot weather or city traffic, allow transmission to cool for 30 minutes.
3. Engage parking brake, start engine.
4. Press the brake pedal and move the gearshift lever slowly through all gear ranges.
5. Shift to P (Park) and leave the engine running.
6. Remove the dipstick, wipe clean with a dry lint free rag.
7. Install and fully seat the dipstick into the filler tube.
8. Remove dipstick and inspect fluid level. It should be in the cross-hatched area.
9. If necessary, add fluid in 1/2 pint (250 ml) increments through the filler tube until the level is correct at normal operating temperatures.

How to replace temperature sensor in vW golf citi 1.4i 2006

I am driving VW Citi golf sport 1.4i,every morning whn is cold my car couldn't start, after many attempts it would and when I try to accelerate it will choke. After buying the temperature sensor my problem was solved. the mechanics advised me to buy petrol filter and petrol gauge regulator and a petrol pump, thanks I didn't buy them. Only a temperature sensor made my car a comfortable drive.

Hi need help on my car heat not blowing hot its a 2001 focus thanks

Hello. If your fan is blowing on all speeds, it is probably your thermostat in the water system that is at fault. (probably stuck open) You didnt say whether the car was a petrol or a diesel. Diesels tend to run cooler so it will not be doing your MPG any good either if the engine is not getting to the correct temperature. The thermostat is a cheap part and usually fairly easy to identify and replace. It will be in the haynes manual or try a search engine for how to replace it. Hope this helps.
