Question about Jeep Cherokee

1 Answer

I have a bad U joint...had the other replaced months ago. Aside from that, my question pertains to the sudden rocking from drivers side to passenger side,in otherwords when the drivers side is up the passenger side is down, so you can understand the motion I'm describing. It happens when i hit a change in the cambre of the road. Wondering what else is the problem besides the U joint. Also, i was wondering what the cost would be to properly fix lifters. Ticking is getting worse. I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee sport 4x4. Thank you...Lisa

I would need more info to picture what is happening with the rocking else I may mislead you. Are there any other symptoms that occur when it rocks (does it thump, squeak or grind etc.. when it rocks)? How hard does it rock?

Concerning your lifters you could try an engine additive that restores lifters depending on the severity of the problem. A backyard mechanic may charge $100-200. An auto shop obviously would charge more. The whole top of the motor would have to be removed to get to them. It can be done in about a day to a day and a half.

2007 dodge caliber rt slap stick put new tires on 3 months ago driver side front tire is worn cant let off wheel car pulls bad to the right side of the road

The popping could be from a bad CV axle joint, or a bad wheel bearing. Better get checked, sounds very worn. Raise the wheel on a jack and watch for play. Grab wheel at 3 and 9 o'clock, and shake back and forth-watch for play. Wheel bearing? CV joint -is boot still good? Ball joints at bottom of wheel attaching point to the control arm-check this for play, too.

Aviator has grinding noise on passenger side and pulling right side

Upper ball joints are NOT serviced seperatly you have to replace the upper control arm and you probably need to replace the brake pads and rotors at this time also plus the calipers by now.

If you dual climate control sounds like it the mode door actuator that controls driver and passenger temp. If it went bad again then there is something wrong with the mode door itself causing the actuator to short out

is it electric windows? if it has electric windows does the passenger window roll up using the switch for it on the passenger door panel? if it works on the passenger door panel and not on the driver's door panel , then your switch on the drivers door panel is bad... replace it.
