You can go to advance auto parts they should have a OBD II code reader there or you can buy one and test to see if there are any codes showing up at all first. Secondly check the transmission fluid to see there is any in the transmission but first you have to have the car on for couple of minutes before doing this to check this and also check car oil when the car is off as well. I will also say it could be your pistons seals that is losing pressure because they go bad because your running car to much is why this might be happening. There is also your timing issues so you can use a timing gun to check the timing.

Might be your clutch that is slipping. Did you get the history of the car and see if the clutch been changed ?

It's a surprise that an Elantra would last 10 years. Time to get this issue to a mechanic, and trade the car in. Look for a car that will last without issues and problems. I owned a new Hyundai Elantra for four years, and paid for it twice from so many electrical, steering, and suspension issues. I now drive an Infinity for the past 7 years, drove it for 160,000 miles, and not a single repair bill. Just maintenance. Other cars you may consider are Volkswagen, Volvo, Lexus, and Audi.

My 2008 hyundai elantra when driving has a thumping sound coming from passengers rear tire. I notice it when driving slow about 5 to 10 miles an hour .it probably is also at higher speeds but its hard to...

Most definately your tire. Out of round and or balance or tire defects cannot usually be detected visually. I would take it to a reputable tire store for inspection. Could be a bent or warped rim if you have run over a curb or through a big pothole, etc. They should be able to tell you if one or the other is defective.

I have a 2003 Hyundai Elantra. Its Engine is 2.o L (120.5) DOHC MFI 16-valve4 -cyl inline engine. It has 90,000 miles on it. When I bought it, it had 89,000 miles. Should I change the timing belt for this...

Most manufactures recommend changing the Timing belt at around 60,000 miles or 7 years. The have been known to last a lot longer than that but it is cheaper to have it replaced than to risk critical and expensive engine damage if it breaks.

I have no Idea on the BMW Diesel!... On the 2004 Hyundai Elantra, the belt is replaced every 60,000 mile or every 5 years -- whichever comes first.

When should you get a coolant system service? 2005 HyundaiElantra

should be about every 3 year or 36,000 miles as a rule of thumb. Some manufacturers claim there coolant can last longer then that, but customers that stick to that usually have problems with the system later on down the line. Thats why I like the 3 year 12,000 per year rule. other then that you can consult your owners manual should be in the back,
