Your'e talking about the intermittent wipers, correct?

  • bmxtiktok May 29, 2011

Yes, I'm not quite sure how vws windsheild wipers work but i have to push them up and they'll go, but when i click it down, it'll stay down so i think the catch is fine but they don't move, like it's not connected.

The problem is the catch on your wiper switch (shown below). You can purchase this at most auto parts store for about $20-$25. You will need to remove the steering wheel to have this replaced, but that should not cost too much from a repair shop. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

You see, the catch is the switch and the switch controls the wiper movement. The description you gave was you can manually HOLD them and they work, That would denote that they are not catching on the switch, which is the piece I gave you the picture of. This controls the wiper motor and sets the speed. I do not understand your response, other than to say I have provided the best answer possible with the information I have. What you have explained is the switch arm does not stay in the various positions that would enable the different speeds the motor provides. The fact that you can move it to the down position and it stops would further confirm this as OFF is the default setting, or DOWN. You switch is bad and needs to be replaced. I am here to help if you would like me to.

VW Jetta fan, wipers, headlights work until engine starts. Then they do not always function.

I would suspect you have a defective ignition starter switch, this is the main switch the the ignition key cylinder operates and it powers up the while electrical system,. It is under the steering column covers.

My wipers do not work on my 97 jetta trek. Please help?

Your wipers don't move at all? Obviously there is nothing stuck. You should then check the fuse panel to see if that is the problem.

06 Jetta TDI. Blower motor and washer sprayer not working.

Hope you have checked on the main FUSE box for the blower and also the wiper washer circuit fuse. In some cases if this is shared by a common ground you need to check on for poor connection. It is ideal that you take a voltage test on the motors and confirm if the +12 is present , if so the ground is faulty. Also trace the +12 if absent back through the harness and to the switch.

My 1997 jetta 2.0 clutch stuck to floor while driving and now it wont take any gears

It is probably the clutch slave cylender, leaking fluid, add brake fluid and bleed the system and check for leaks then replace whatever is leaking, sometimes it leaks onto the floor of the car under the pedal.
