Question about 1991 GMC Sierra

1 Answer

1991 GMC 2w 4.3L 4speed manual. The brake lights stay on all the time after the truck is started. I have to pull the fuse to get them to turn off. I have moved the switch on the brake pedal but it doesn't seem to affect the brake lights. The parking brake indicator in the dash is always on when the truck is running also. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you, Terry

I have the same problem with my daewoo because the switch underneath and on top of my brake pedal has a push in type plastic nail so this switch might need to be changed. You should also check all fuses to see if any blowned but if any are blowned that you should have a short somewhere that is making this fuse blowned.

I changed the brake switch and the lights stayed on until I got out my volt meter and started measuring the power coming thru the switch. I adjusted the contact on switch to the correct distance for the brake pedal and the problem was solved. Thank you.

Brake lights stay on even if i pull fuse or take off brake light switch

Sounds like the turn signal switch is bad, since the brake light circuit is routed through the turn switch.

1995 GMC k2500 5.7: Parking lights stay on all the time. With engine off, light switch off parking lights constantly on. Go off when 50 amp red under-hood fuse is removed or when 10 amp in-dash fuse...

try to depress the parking brake ONE CLICK to turn them off.
You are probably spot on when dirrecting your attention to the trailor wiring as there is a master power wire that would have been installed to power the relay box that your vehicle would have been wired with.
Try the parking brake... it will bypass / override the auto daylight illumination protocall and extinguish the daytime running lights as well.

The brake lights won't go out. I pulled the fuse so the battery doesn't go dead, but can't figure out why they are staying lit.

on your brake pedal there is a switch that controls your brake lights over time it comes to lose just enough for the switch won't come in contact with the pedal

Brake lights are staying on all the time even when i pull the fuse 2004 gmc seara

Check your brake light switch. It is located on the very top of the brake pedal, up under the dash. They are kind of hard to get to. But the brake light switch is the problem.

Brake lights wont turn on.1994 gmc sierra.

This may sound too simple, but first verify that you are getting voltage to the light socket. Use meter on d.c. If you are getting voltage, and your bulb is good, it could be a bad ground. Don't overlook the brake light system goes through the directional signal in the steering column.

please check your brake light switch located near the brake pedal. it could be faulty.
