You might have to use a standard screw driver and slowly use it and pry open but also there might be some bolts holding it on the door and thumb push in nubs too.

How to replace rear door speakers for 1997 GMC jimmy

I think your GMC have in-door rear speakers.!!
  • Look for screws in door panel or around the speaker vents.
  • If you are sure that the speaker cant be removed without opening the door panel then read this below.
  • Mostly seen near areas like door lever(inside), power window switch set, bottom and each sides of the whole panel.
  • If its manual window, then look for a circle clip in between the winding window lever and the door panel. Plunge screw driver between them a make a gap then look.
  • Assure that all clips or screws which obstacles the removal of the panel.
  • Simply pull the panel from sides towards you
  • If its completely open, then locate the speaker and unscrew it.
  • Check the connection wires for quality
  • Mostly its good to scratch the leads of the wire to remove copper oxide layer
  • Take the new speaker, check the holes on the door matching the speaker's
  • If needed, drill hole for screw and be sure that the new speaker is not more than 15cm diameter.
  • Connect the leads, fix the speakers.
  • Check the sound clarity with your car audio on.
  • If everything is perfect.. go on , fix the door panels
  • Mainly sure with the side clips of the panel, do not bent or break them.
  • Check for any balance parts or screws.

Problem with the 2004 Land Rover FreeLander How to install a Freelander Window Regulator with cable loose not broken just off winder

Tools you will need:
1. Panel removal tool
2. Philips screw driver
3. 1/4 Ratchet with extension and 8 mm socket.
4. grease to lube new regulator. The first thing, is to remove the door panel:
1. Remove 2 screws securing hand rail to door.
2. Remove screw securing door handle escutcheon to door and remove the escutcheon.
3. Remove 4 screws securing pocket to door.
4. Carefully release 10 clips securing trim casing to door. (Best to use a door panel removal tool, the plastic clips break very easy)
5. Disconnect multi-plug from upper door speaker. Do the same for lower speaker
6. Remove trim panel from door.
7. Remove the plastic vapor barrier , care full not to destroy. (You may have to cut around some things such as the hand rail brackets.)
At this point you will be able to see the regulator and motor through the small holes in the door. At this stage a small flash light is very handy
to see such things as the power connector for the window motor.

1. Loosen the two bolts in the slotted holes, shown above.
2. Remove the remaining 4 bolts securing regulator assembly to door.
3. Lower glass and loosen the 2 bolts securing door glass to regulator. Then slide the channel bar forward to remove.
4. Disconnect the power from the window motor.
5. lift the window and secure in the up position ( I used Duct tape).
6. Collapse all the arms and maneuver the old regulator out the center hole in door. Assembly is basically the reverse of the removal procedures:
1. take the two screws that you partially removed out of the old regulator and install them partially install them into the new regulator.
2. Work the new regulator through the center hole.
3. Connect the power to the regulator motor.
4. Lower the window glass, take the channel that secures the glass to the regulator, insert it over the tow bolts that were loosened in step 2 above
5. Raise the window and secure.
6. Insert the 2 bolts on regulator through the keyed holes in the door and finger tighten.
7. line up the rest of the bolt holes and install the remaining two bolts in both the regulator and then tighten two bolts in step 6 above
8. install the two in the bottom channel.
9. Now is a good time to test..........
Then all that is left to install the hook up the speaker(s) and mount the door panel.
1. Position trim panel close to the door and connect door speaker(s) multi-plug(s).
2. Secure door panel to door with clips.
3. insert escutcheon to door handle and secure with screw.
4. Secure hand rail to door with two screws.noranda21_0.jpg
5. Fit pocket to door and secure with four screws."

How do I replace speakers on a 1994 xj6 ?

Replacement of Front and Rear Door Speakers

Required Tools:

#2 Phillips Screwdriver (magnetic tip is useful)
9 mm Nut Driver
8” or 10” Flat Tip Screwdriver
Small awl or other sharp pointed instrument
Soldering Iron w/solder or 8 to 10 small wire **** splices
8 to 10 small machine screws -- #8 x ¾” or equivalent 8 to 10 small machine screw nuts & flat washers to match
Thread locking compound “Loctite” (optional)
6” wooden dowel of ½” diameter to be used as a drift
Small mallet or hammer

1) Whenever you are attempting to a remove door panel to gain access to the speaker, or any other electrical component, absolutely disconnect the negative battery cable. Battery power is supplied to each door window motor and it’s always prudent to de-energize these circuits before you attempt any panel work.

2) XJ40 door inner panels (front or rear) are comprised of an upper and lower section, which interface to provide complete inner door coverage. Neither panel is difficult to remove nor are any specialized tools required.

3) Remove the Upper Inner Door Panels as follows:

It’s a good idea to store all the removed parts and screws in the adjacent foot well for safekeeping and easy access when you are putting everything back together.

a) Using a small awl (or equivalent), remove the small “square” plastic cover for the inner door lock release mechanism (upper right side when facing inner side of door). It pivots towards the front of the car.

b) Using the #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the inner door lock release mechanism plastic / chrome escutcheon. It’s held in place by a single machine screw. Pull out on the door lock release mechanism and the escutcheon is easily removed.

c) Using both hands, pull out on the wood veneer panel at the inner door lock release mechanism to provide clearance and slide the panel towards the front of the car. The panel is secured on the left side by slip-in clips and they release easily.

d) Using the #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the two sheet metal screws on the left side. For the front doors only, lift the bottom of the rubber ventilation boot at the front edge of the door and remove the sheet metal screw. Additionally, for the front door only, use the large flat screwdriver as a lever to ease out the single “fir tree” type press-fit connector. Neither of the rear doors contains these two additional fasteners.

e) Using both hands, lift the upper inner door panel until it releases from the metal ridge along the window line. It doesn’t take much effort to remove the upper panel as it slides off vertically. Store it on the seats for safekeeping.

4) Remove the Lower Inner Door Panels as follows:

a) Using the #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the sheet metal screw located at the upper edge of the lower panel.

b) Using a ½”small wooden dowel or equivalent drift, place it under the lower edge of the door handle screw access cover. Lightly tap each end of the access cover using the dowel and mallet in an upward direction to release the access cover. These covers can be tight if they have never been removed in the past, but they will release.

c) Using the #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the sheet metal screw located in the middle of the door handle.

d) Using a small awl or equivalent, remove the bottom door light lens by releasing it from its locator at the rear and sliding it outwards from the door.

e) Using the #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the lower panel securing sheet metal screw located in the middle of the bottom door light assembly. All sheet metal screw fasteners for the lower panel are now removed.

f) Using both hands (and the large flat screwdriver, if needed), carefully pull off the lower inner door panel by release the series of fir-tree type press-fit connectors along the sides and lower perimeter. Once the panel is removed, it can be laid horizontally on the seat as there is sufficient length of wire bundle to allow this movement. It is not necessary to disconnect the wiring harness, but if desired, the connectors can be released so that the panel can be moved to another more worker friendly location.

5) Remove Door Mounted Speaker as follows:

a) Disconnect the speaker positive and negative conductors by releasing the electrical connector.

b) Using the 9mm Nutdriver, remove the speed clip nut from each of the four (4) speaker fastener studs. Press the nutdriver down firmly to engage the speed nut … do NOT cut away any foam material as it is not necessary.

c) Using the #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the sheet metal screw immediately to the left (driver side) or right (passenger side) of the speaker as viewed from the back side of the door lower inner panel.

d) Using the #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the sheet metal screw immediately above the speaker. It is located just below the upper sheet metal screw securing tab on the lower panel … the screw was previously removed in Step 4a.

e) Using the #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the sheet metal screw immediately to the lower right (driver side) or lower left (passenger side) of the speaker as viewed from the back side of the door lower inner panel.

f) Using the #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the sheet metal screw immediately to the lower far right (driver side) or lower far left (passenger side) of the speaker as viewed from the back side of the door lower inner panel.

g) Steps 5c, d, e and f will release the speaker / window lift pushbutton panel from the lower door inner panel. Removal of the sheet metal screws will allow the speaker panel to be pulled away from the lower panel by 3” to 4” to facilitate access for speaker removal.

h) With the speaker / window lift pushbutton panel eased back for working clearance, grasp the speaker with one hand while pressing the four (4) speaker studs downward through the foam supporting material. After the studs are clear from the foam material, the speaker can be removed from the panel.

6) Install New Door Mounted Speaker as follows:

Typically, base XJ40 models use 3.5” door speakers while the VDPs will use 4” door speakers. Though I believe it is possible to mount either type in either model.

a) Using the wiring supplied with the new speakers and insulated solderless **** splices, transfer the old speaker wiring electrical connector to the new speaker. Another alternate method is to simply solder the old speaker wires with connector to the new speaker terminals. This is a superior method for electrical continuity and strength of joint … although it does require some soldering skills.

b) Install the new 3.5” speaker by easing back the speaker panel and sliding in the new speaker. Normally, the 3.5” models will mount with only two fasteners.

c) Using two of the small machine screws with flat washers, place these fasteners through the speaker mounting lugs and press them up through the existing holes in the foam supporting material. Secure the screws with flat washers and matching nuts from the back side of the inner door panel. The use of thread locking compound (Loctite) is a nice touch to prevent loosening due to vibration.

d) Re-install the sheet metal screws removed in Steps 5c, d, e and f. This will re-mount the speaker panel. Don’t forget to re-connect the speaker wire connector at the door panel.

7) Re-installation of the inner door lower and upper panels is literally a reverse of the removal procedure. No hidden tricks.

8) Perform Steps 3 through 6 for the other doors and the job is complete.

9) Remove Rear Footwell Mounted Speaker as follows:

This sequence is good for both 4” and 5.25” footwell mounted woofers.

a) Using a small flat screwdriver as a lever, carefully ease off the grill.

b) Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the four (4) sheet metal mounting screws.

c) Ease out the old speaker and release the electrical connector for the speaker wires.

d) Transfer the old speaker wires and electrical connector to the new speaker using solderless **** splices or by soldering the old leads to the new speaker terminals.

e) Re-connect the speaker wires to the harness by joining the electrical connector.

f) Mount the new speaker and re-attach the necessary sheet metal screws.

g) Press the speaker grill into place.

h) Repeat Steps 9a though 9g for the other footwell speaker.

I am trying install new speakers in the front doors of my 2004 ford ranger extended cab pickup, and I am not sure exactly how to take the door panels off where I can get to the speakers. Could you tell me...

9ff6ad6.jpg

Put the window down first.

Remove the 2 handle screws (RED)
Remove the Handle trim using a small screwdriver or pry tool (BLUE)

Work around sides and bottom of door with pry tool to dislodge panel pins.
Once all pins have been popped - Lift up on the panel - as it is hooked over the top of the door.

If you cannot maneuver the door panel into a good position to remove the speaker - you will have to remove the wire harnesses for the door switches (GREEN).

Front door speakers

I just replaced mine on my 2002 Diamante LS yesterday. It really isn't that difficult. To get to the front door speaker you will need to remove the door trim panel. This is done by pulling out on the bottom part of the panel. I used a flathead screwdriver to help with the separation. Just be careful not to scratch anything.

There are 4 or 5 clips that lock the panel on to the door frame. After you have pulled the clips out you will want to lift up on the separated panel as it hangs on a rail adjacent to the window. Pull the panel out far enough to reach behind and disconnect the various wiring clips. They have quick disconnect fittings and come out easily. You will also need to disconnect the door interior light by rotating the base about a half turn to get it out of the removable panel.

Once you have removed the door panel you will have full access to the speaker frame mounting. It has a removable plastic frame that you screw the new speakers in to. It attaches to the door frame with 5 or 6 Phillips type screws. I found it easier to remove the mount and get it ready to accept my new speakers. I just srewed it back on before actually attaching the speakers.

While the dealer spec for door speakers on a Diamante is a 6 3/4" speaker, a 6 1/2" will work just fine if you have a drill to pre-drill new screw holes. Just line the new speaker up on the speaker mount, mark where the new holes should be and then go ahead and drill them. Make sure the drill bit isn't bigger the the screw. It is a machine type of a thread and is easy to self thread with a regular phillips screwdriver.

After you have the speaker mount ready to accept your new speaker you can go back to your car, screw the mount back on to the door frame. Next attach the two speaker wires to the back of the new speaker. White goes to the positive post. (You might need to change the fitting type to match the car wiring and the new speaker) You can get some quick connect friction fittings and put one on the end of each wire that attaches to the speaker. Walmart, Autozone, Radio Shack all have these as they are readily available.

With the speakers in place, just reverse you installation of the door panel. I found it was easier to roll the window down so I could hang the panel back on the channel. Line up the clips and the bottom of the door, push in and you will feel and hear them engage. Once you are sure they are lined up correctly, go ahead and give it a good push where each clip attaches to make sure its on tight.

All done, enjoy your new sound system.
