Question about Ford Explorer

1 Answer

When putting fuses in my 98 Explorer I put some in ones that were empty. Now it acts like it has a fuel problem yet my fuel pump is kicking in and I drained the fuel tank.

While you may not care for what I'am about to say

You have to own an owners manual if you
owner a vehicle

Why---to find out bulb or lamps numbers

Second you should only have a blown fuse
about once every 8 years
Then you need the manual,to find the size of the fuse

To locate the fuse holder you just look
If you can't do that, go to a repair shop

When a vehicle goes down the assy line, not all
fuses are necessary for even place they fit

So basically your lost

You never replace a blown fuse more than once

Then you need to go to wiring diagrams or again
a repair shop

Correct your fuse issues & get back to us

You didn't really tell us the main problem, unless
whatever it is you created

Will not run, turnover. Clea.ned fuel filter, fuel punp still kicks on. Was wondering if putting a fuse in an empty fuse place could make any difference.

What does the fuel reset indicator on the panel stands for? Ford explorer 98

Fuel Reset
The FUEL RESET indicator is grounded through the inertia switch whenever the vehicle is subjected to a high force situation. The inertia fuel shutoff switch (IFS switch) (9341) cuts off the fuel pump motor. The FUEL RESET indicator illuminates when the IFS switch has been tripped

My 98 civic wount start I put some gas treatment in and drove it around parked it and the nextday went to start it and it wount start

Might be a fuel pump. The gas treatment shouldn't have anything to do with it. Was it running bad before you put the gas treatment in it? Take off the gas cap and put your ear next to the opening and see if you can hear the fuel pump kick on and off. You will need someone to urn the key to the on position while you listen. Don't try and start it, just turn the key where it would normally be when it is running. If you can't hear the fuel pump kick on and off then that is probably your problem.

98 tahoe put in rebuilt trans. now no fire to fuel pump wont start blowing fuses

Depending on which fuses are blowing, you may have shorted a wire in the harness to the fuel tank.

Fuel pump on a 1992 ford explorer. acts like its gettn air in the fuel lines an goes to skippin an shuts off. just put new fuel pump on it.

How did the line look that hooks to the pump? Is this an in-tank pump? Or is it on the frame? If you replaced the one on the frame, then the one in the tank(assist pump) might be bad.;don-ohio (:^)

The gas tank gets to a quarter tank and the car stops also done came across the mileage

well the fuel gauge is wrong for sure which usually results in the float on the fuel pump being bent when put back in by technician or someone who is not careful when they put it back in for sure happens all the time the gauge says one thing but its out of gas.but if you have not had fuel pump put then when the fuel levels gets low the pump gets hot and kicks the reset thus shutting the fuel pump.and the on board fuel miles to empty are never correct usually they will run 10 to 15 miles after the miles 0 anyway they are almost never correct replacement of the float should remedy the problem but unfortunately the assembly has to be changed fuel pump and all cause it all one.

The fuel pump relay is in the power distribution box in the engine compartment under the hood.
Find the box with the fuses and relays in it then go to the # 5 relay – this is the fuel pump also in location # 9 there should be a 20 amp fuse – this is the fuel pump relay/rap module for the `98 Ford Explorer.
Inside the car on the passenger area near the floorboard and behind the kick board towards the right front passenger area us the inertia switch. The button is counter sunk and should be pushed down if conditions are safe. Sometimes people kick this area and set off this safety switch. This is a ‘cut off’ switch made to stop the flow of fuel in case of an accident.

Hope this helps – please rate me

Ran out of gas,put gas in car still wont start should i put gas in carburator?

it doesnt have a carb its fuel injected so the pump may have gone out the fuel is also coolant for the fuel pump if its below 1/4 tank the pump doesnt cool off as well so if it was empty enough times you probably ruined the fuel pump
