2006 Pontiac Grand Prix gxp overheats after only driving 10 to 15 miles the ac off for engine protection comes on then coolant hot mil comes on. What is the best suggestion for this fix?

First check to see if fan motors are working. If they are then sounds like new thermostat And after you put in new thermostat don't forget to bleed the air out of system with engine running. Bleed screws should be on manifold on front of engine. If you don't bleed the air out then it will overheat. I had same problem but the only thing I forgot to do after changing coolant and thermostat was bleeding the air. Good luck

I have a 1999 Grand Prix. It has a new water pump, new thermostat, new radiator cap, new hoses top and bottom off the radiator. Car is still running hot after a few moments. I don't hear no boiling...

Check to see if your electric fans turn on. Your fans are there to help cool the engine as well. Depending the setup will depend when they come on. Usually they are set turn on when your engine reaches a certain temperature to assist cooling the engine.

2003 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 6 Cyl - Cooling Fan Not Operating

the fan motor could just be bad, you can test this by removing the fan and connecting a wire to each terminal and to a battery. the wires hooked up one way will spin the fan and the other way will spin the fan backwards so you cant hook it up wrong. I hope that helps you out!

Does it leak coolant? Did you add coolant? Fans will not come on until 225 degrees. More info.

Climate control switch does not work in lower modes only in high.

The pontiacs have an issue with the ignition switch, I have a 2001 grand prix that did the same. The ac fan would only work on 5 and the headlights would go off if on 1-4 replace the switch and all is fine.
