Question about Dodge Ram 1500

1 Answer

I have a 1999 dodge ram 1500. Just had a blown power steering hose. The mechanic replaced it. Now I have power steering only over 1000 rpm. Now he says I may need a new pump. Worked fine before he got it. He said he bleed it. could the hose be reversed?

I have a 1999 dodge ram 1500 4x4 when ideling it runs good for a bit at about 1000 rpm then surges up a little then back down, sometimes down then up, I have changed several things, plugs, wires, rotor...

I would recommend that you replace the TPS (throttle position sensor), as it will cause this issue. You might try cleaning the throttle body itself, if the butterfly is corroded, or the throttle body is dirty it can cause this as well. I had one doing the same thing, and yesterday I used a can of throttle body cleaner and it cured it.

How do i change the power steering pressure switch on my 04 dodge ram 1500 hemi? I can't find it.

From the Factory Service Manual, you can get one relatively cheap from www.promanuals.net. Here is a link to your 2004 Dodge Ram Service Manual.

The power steering pressure switch is installed in
the power steering high-pressure hose (Fig. 9).

(1) Disconnect electrical connector from power
steering pressure switch.
(2) Place a small container or shop towel beneath
switch to collect any excess fluid.
(3) Remove switch. Use back-up wrench on power
steering line to prevent line bending.

All the fuses have been checked. One fuse was blown but it was the 20 amp power outlet, I believe for the outlet under the cig lighter.
