When is a car deemed to be modified - by options fitted by the manufacturer or from changes made by the owner?

It depends by manufacturer. What exactly are you questioning as far as "modified." What was done to the vehicle?

Where I live, Canada, a car is deemed modified when the owners changes things that are not available from the manufacturer. Depending on the extent of the modifications you may need an engineer's certificate for roadworthiness here. Anything that is available as a manufacturer's option wouldn't fall into that category, because they certify that it is fit to be driven on the road with these options when they ship it. Hope this helps.

Will a brake booster from a 2002 Chrysler 300M fit on a 2004 Chrysler 300M?

It is not often brake boosters are modified once a model run is underway but the possibility should not be discounted.

Asking the dealer if the part numbers are identical is probably the best option and checking online catalogues from the companies supplying the aftermarket would be second favourite if both brake boosters are still fitted.

If they are accessible most such components will be marked with a manufacturer's name and part number.

Failing all else you will need to have both units available for a close inspection and measurement.

Have a 2012 BT50 XTR 100,000Ks climate control has shut down nothing is working not even when I put m lights on can i fix

You'll probably need a new trans soon....? I would strongly recommend that you have your gearbox removed and your torque converter modified before it fails and contaminates your gearbox with metal shards.

There is a manufacturing fault inside the converter (bad design) which leads it to fail.
And yes you should definitely have an external cooler fitted, the original one is a joke! The transmission fluid should be changed every 15k to 30K depending on how much you tow.
I bought my 2012 Bt50 3.2 Auto at 144k it already had a gearbox changed at 35k by Mazda. The gearbox failed again at 145k so my cheapest option was to buy a second hand one with less than 20k on it.

I sent both of the torque converters to a shop in Sydney and they opened both of them up, the good second hand one and the one that failed.
Doing so they determined why and how it failed and modified the good one so that it would not fail.
I hope this helps you and everybody else!

I need an owners manual for the alarm system in my vauxhall astra 2001 cdx 1.8. It has electric windows all round.

There is no separate alarm owners manual for the factory fit alarm. If your car has had an aftermarket alarm fitted by a previous owner suggest you find out which manufacturer it came from and check their website for a downloadable file.

Will a 1995 to 2002 Camero LH power seat track with harness and 6 way switch fit a 1985 to 1989 Olds Regency 98 Sedan? Will I have to modify any wiring ? Thanks

If you do not know everything there is to know about car electricity, you will real soon.
Yes it will fit.

The good news is that I just spoke with an Oldsmobile expert on the phone, and he said the Regency has a driver's side electric seat option.
All you have to do is plug it in where that original wire is supposed to go in the fuse box, and you are good to go.
The original circuit was not in the front of the fuse box, it was wired in to the back as a factory installation.
You will need to do that.
If you will find an Oldsmobile Owner's manual, it should have the location for the electric seat fuse, unless it is a circuit breaker.
Either way, hook it up like the original was to prevent a fire.
God bless your efforts.

I unplugged my maf on my 2005 mustang have mods on car still idle pretty rough put maf back in the car died why

Because the PCM went into default mode when you unplugged it. When you plugged it back in, the PCM tried to adjust and reset. Opening the IAC motor causing to much air to come in and killed the engine. Fairly normal response for the engine. Since you modified the engine, did you modify the PCM? Can't do one with out the other.

Will a 1990 ford ranger engine fit 1990 Mazda B 2200 truck without any modifications?

No it will not. Only a comparable engine from another mazda b2200 truck and I think the b2000 and possibly Miata, 2.2 engines were about the same from 1986-1993. You can pretty much count out just dropping in a motor from a different manufacturer for any make. Fords don't fit chevys, etc. etc., This would require you modify the entire drive train and quite possibly the electrical system, cooling system, etc. Definitely not worth the hassle involved.

My 94 XJ6 shifts hard only in range of shifting from 30mph to 32mph. that one gear is slaming when it changes to that gear. Sometimes it shifts smooth and other times it slams. Do i need a rebuild? good...

Hi, if you have the ZF unit fitted there are no "easy" fixes. The shifts are ECU controlled and to be honest, it would be to your advantage to have a shop that is rated for working on that model of Jaguar hook it up to a computer and run a print out. The problem might just be a recalcitrant solenoid in the transmission, or a fault in the shift controller.
There is nothing inexpensive when a Jaguar has to be worked on. On the brighter side, you can shop around for a warranted re-built / manufactured trans for the car if it is deemed to be in need of replacement. Look up the club Jaguar World and do a little research, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Good luck.

I have a 1988 E-150 with a 302 & a 2 speed automatic. I am wondering if a 351M would fit without much modification.

Yes actually they do fit nice. A 351 cleveland will fit right in but a modified may have to change motor mount positions. Not sure about firewall clearance, as far as I remember its just the mounts mostly that need to be changed. And the computer of course.

Change gas tank

If there was a 20 gal option, then parts are available...(found in any local scrapyard) if not, you may run into problems getting the fill neck attached. (you can get anything to fit anything...straps,lines and electrical are easily moved but fill neck needs to be properly located.(or modified with longer rubber connections, as long as they don't need to be bent till they crimp )
