My OBD will not power up on a 2005 pontiac montana.

SP205 is a splice pack , taped to the wiring harness behide the dash near the OBD connector .

My OBD will not power up ? Code reader , scan tool ????? .Pin #16 at the OBD connector should have B+ voltage .This is what supply's B+ voltage to the scan tool / code reader . What makes you think you need a computer ? The computer doesn't supply B+ voltage to that OBD port ,.Do you know where the i/p fuse box is ? You want the CIGAR/DLC /APO FRT fuse 20amp . The other wires you mention above , don't mess with those . Those are the class 2 data bus wires .Screw with those and short one out , you will never get your vehicle started . Suggets you google GM class 2 serial data bus communications .

I can not get power to the obd port for my 1997 mitssubishi gallant. what do I check?

The OBD port runs off the lighter fuse.Get that fixed and you will probably have power to the port. The black fuses are diodes. One for the PCM, the other for the A/C.

No OBD signal

check all the fuses, the most common reason for no signal is due to no power to connector, check the fuses and i think you will find a bad fuse.the fuse/relay box is located in the engine compartment, i would tell you which location the fuse was in but its not labeled that way, it just uses power from a curcuit , most times its the lighter or the power port, that why i say to check all the fuses, also to skip the fuse check you can use a test light to see if its a lack of power to the obd2 connector, this connector is where you connect the scan tool, using a test light you will check this port and if theres no power then check all the fuses.heres a diagram to show you which pin to test for power, good day, hope this helps.johnjohn2_89.jpg

No power to the obd scan port

What year, make, model, engine size.

Older models check the fuses for the cigarette lighter/power sockets. The ALDL (obd scan port) gets its power from this fuse.

Newer models may be the same as above or they can have the own fuse.

Emission test

Why aren't they just using the OBD II port instead of the dynomometer? Which state are you in? In Washington, where I work as an emission test specialist, we don't even use the dyne (rollers) to do the test. The OBD II port doesn't require the car to be taken out of park.
If you have to resort to it, just pull the TCS fuse for the test. The TCS won't activate and you won't get any emissions error codes.
Be sure to check with the testing facility before you do this. They may not allow it if it may be considered a safety issue.
I wish you the best!
