there is a clutch release issue here. clutch throw out arm adjustment, air in the system and if you have just replace the clutch, clutch plate in the wrong way round and the hub is hitting on the fly wheel bolts.

Maxda B4000 RPM skips 2000 to 5000

If you can actually hear the engine race up to 5000 RPM you may have a serious problem. But more then likely you cant actually hear the engine rev up. If this is the case I would suspect a bad Tachometer ground wire.

The transmission on a 1994 mazda, B4000, rear wheel drive needs to be removed. All bolts have been removed . The two very center top bolts holding the transmissiom on to the engine are very dificult to see...

If you can't reach them from the top in the engine compartment with a wrench, then get a universal joint for your ratchet. Put the socket on the universal and some extension on the other end until you can get room to turn the ratchet. It will also help to remove the crossmember from the back of the transmission. This will allow it and the engine to twist a little on the engine mounts and give you a little more room. Be sure to block up the trans so it doesn't drop too far or too fast when you finnaly get the bolts out. The universal joint is about $8-$10. Hope this helps.

Clutch installation maual for 2000 ford focus ZX3

Don't have manual but here;

the clutch is located between the engine and transmission. Therefore you must separate the engine from the transmission to gain access to the clutch.

This is much more difficult on a front wheel drive vehicle.

On most front wheel drive vehicles the easiest way to this is to remove the engine and transmission as a unit. However on a front wheel drive vehicle the engine and transmission come out from the bottom. You disconnect all of the hoses, wiring, linkage, etc just like on a rear wheel drive vehicle. You disconnect the suspension and steering. You disconnect the front "K" member (front sub frame). Then if you have everything disconnected properly you lift the body off of the drive train. You can then separate the engine from the transmission and service the clutch. You reverse your steps to reinstall the engine.

As you can see this is much more involved than accessing the clutch on a rear wheel drive truck where the transmission can be removed without removing the engine.

There are a few front wheel drive GM vehicles I have seen where the "K" member can be removed in pieces. On these vehicles you only remove half of the "K" member and you can remove the transmission without removing the engine. Not sure if this is possible on a Ford.

1998 Mazda B4000 (similar to Ford Ranger). Wipers, dome light and 4 wheel drive selector switch work intermitantly. I would like to know what is the problem and what parts should be replaced. Mike

With it being an intermittant problem that indicates a possible electrical short. It's not likely that any parts would need to be changed. I hope this is helpful.

I have to remove the engin. does the manual box have to be removed with it?

If the car is front wheel drive then expect the answer to be a yes. Most compact cars the engine and transmission has to come out as a unit and has to come out under the car, meaning you'd either have to use a cherry picker to lift the body of the car, or use a lift to pick it up that way. If its rear wheel drive then most of the time you don't have to.

Almost sounds like the 4WD actuator is going out in the transfer case. Its a part found at most automotive stores.
