You usually remove a semi circular plate attached to the bell housing near the sump then get to the torque converter bolts there. you need to have the transmission removed to get at the actual flex plate to crank bolts

Replaced motor in 98 toyota tacoma prerunner 2.7 l put it back together and now it won't shift into gear. Can you help please

Do you have the torque convertor bolted to the flex plate? I hope you made sure the convertor was fully seated on the input shaft before dropping in the engine. After the engine and trans. was bolted together, did you have a gap between the convertor and flex plate, or were they pressed together? If there was no gap, and the conv. and flex pressing against each other and you started the truck, you probably just ate up the trans.oil pump drive tangs and the convertor itself too.

Replace starter and has same problem. starts sometimes then doesn't.

If it sounds like starter just free wheel without rolling motor over there has to be teeth missing on flywheel. Only way to fix is to pull trans and put nwe flex plate in

Whats wrong ?? my clapper starter motor jams on my 351c ringgear with c10 trans

Go to your nearest NAPA and see if they have shims for this starter. If it is the kind I'm thinking of, pulling the starter slightly away from the ring gear so it will not bind anymore.

you can try to buy new fly wheel or flex wheel at a auto parts stores but more likely dealership part.reason for flex plate to cracked due to stress and heat or starter bolt breaks causing starter hit flex wheel.

What is a flex plate

it is the "flywheel" bolted to the rear of an engine that connects the engine to the torque converter on an automatic transmission equipped vehicle. This flywheel also has the gear teeth around its diameter that engages the starter motor, allowing the starter to turn the engine.

Defective Mass airflow sensor.. .this would be the first thing i would check..
Is your check engine light on, this would help me better to diagnose your problem.

NOISY FLEX PLATE, KEEPS CRACKING AROUND MOUNT ING SCREWS (3) , WELDED UP CRACKS AND REPLACE SCREWS, IN A WEEK STARTS GETTING NOISY AGAIN WE HAVE WELDED THESES CRACKS 3 TIME NOW, HAVE REPLACED NEW FLEX...

sounds like it is incorrect flex plate
for bolts to keep coming loose i wouldsay the bolt threads in end of crank have been streched thru over tightening
you may be able to redrill and tap these
to do this you will have to pull engine
you alsocannot weld craCKS IN A FLEX PLATE
FLEX PLATES flex THEREFORE WELDING IS A WASTE OF TIME
WELDING WILL ALSO PUT FLEX PLATE OUT OF BALANCE WHICH AGIAN WILL CAUSE CRACKS AND PROBABLY WAS THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM TO START WITH

Where is the starter located?

Starters are always located around the transmission bell housing usually front part of engine compartment. It turns the ring gear of a flex plate (auto trans) or a flywheel.

it might be stuck but if hes a mechanic he will check the bolt holes again and the starter again and the linkages again then he will jack the tranny and the motor up with a block of wood under the center applying force to seperate the trans from the motor you can do it it will somtimes hang on the upper alignment pins if auto trans un bolt the torque converter and place a prybar between flex plate and torque and pry it appart

My car engin dose not start,it is 1993 nissan bluebird ARX?

This def sounds like a fule pump issue ...it should be located in the gas tank its self although i would check the fuses first before getting into the tank.
If this is in a 240sx the way into the tank is through the trunk.Lift the carpet and you will see on the mid right side a small 6-8" lid with some wires going into it. Unscrew that and your on your way in.
If you do pull out the pump just be careful handling it as to not break the sensor unit attached to the pump.
