My service engine light came on a few days ago i thought it was the tank cap that wasnt seal completly like it should be i try that and the check engine continue im afraid it could be something serious its my daily drive so ive been using it with the service engine light on. i dont know what i can do. ive just change engine oil a month ago so its new the only problem that i have is that has a oil drop but its a little drop it so little that doesnt even reflects on oil level. i dont know if spark plugs can make this problem or sensors in the intake system. my car is a 2007 350z with twin throttle bodies with 58000 miles on it

Your vehicle may still be under warranty. Call your local dealer and provide your VIN#, warranty is 60months/60,000 mile powertrain warranty, 96months/80,000 mile emissions warranty. I strongly recommend contacting the dealer before your vehicle hits 60,000 miles.

My check engine light came on. Just a couple of days ago the digital display said my gas cap need tightening. I twisted it but did not remove it and then put it back on. I was told that if the gas cap...

yes it could ! this is part of the emission system on todays vehicles. if your sure you do not have a hole in a emission hose. just replace cap, the seal may be bad on cap. then drive it. light should go out if this is the only problem. good-day ! check all lines and hoses in system. remove cap completely and replace it. this may fix problem.

P0442 evap small leak.were to look for it

The code P0442, "Small leak detected" means that the system is not sealed properly and has a small leak. The system prevents gasoline vapors inside the fuel tank from escaping into the atmosphere. Most common cause for this code is when the fuel tank cap is not sealing properly. Check the fuel tank cap, make sure it's tight. If you think that it wasn't closed properly, the check engine light should go off by itself in a few days of driving. If the check engine light won't go off, there could be a number of other reasons, such as leaking ventilation valve, cracked charcoal canister, cracked or pinched hose, leaking seal, etc.
If the leak is very small, it could be very hard to find. Take your car to a dealer or well-equipped garage that can test your system with the special equipment.

Im having a similar problem with the engine light being on-

Most vehicles will sense that the tank is not sealed, will turn on a light. Depending on the make of car, may have to drive several hours, several starts, etc. before it resets itself after you correct the gas cap problem.

Check engine light

Sorry your going to have to change the gas cap. You can try  spraying WD-40 to the rubber seal on the gas cap to get you some more months out of it, the seals get hard and don't seal any more. Good luck

Check Engine Light Comes on Intermittently

The P0141 code points to the O2 sensor heater circuit. It could be that there is a short in the wiring to the O2 sensor or it could be that the O2 sensor heating element itself is bad. The code is for O2 sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2. Bank 1 means its the O2 sensor connected to the exhaust pipe that runs to cylinder #1. Sensor 2 means that it is likely the O2 sensor after the catalytic converter on the same exhaust pipe.

Bought locking gas cap and now check engine light comes on.

well i dont think that would have anything to do with the gas cap and is a total coincidence. i would take the truck to advance auto parts or auto zone and have them scan the computer for codes

Engine Light/tighten fuel cap

Good Day,

Sounds like your fuel cap needs to be replaced, there is a rubber seal in there to which keeps fuel pressure up, when this seal goes bad you get a drop in pressure and your engine light will come on. Replace the cap with a new one. As far as your lighter ports that is probably due to a blown fuse and unrelated to the fuel cap issue.

Hope this helps
