Question about 2000 Ford Focus

2 Answers

I have a 2000 Ford Focus. One week ago the battery light came on and stayed on for two days when the voltage drained and left me stranded on the side of the road. I took the alternator to a rebuild shop where they replaced the regulator.I reinstalled the alternator and it seems to be charging and it cranks easily but when I use the power windows or listen to the radio somewhat loud they will dim the headlights and instrument lights. The battery light still comes on after starting and stays on.

Sounds like the alternator is still not making the correct voltage to charge the fully. The battery light comes on when the alternator doesn't make enough voltage to charge it. Your alternator might still be charging, but not putting out required voltage. I would have your alternator & battery tested. Hope this helps you.

Check battery: after a car is started the car runs off the alternator but the battery is still part of the circuit. Does any juice drain while the car is off? If yes then something is constantly pulling power but is only noticeable when running accessories. If no then it's most likely in the ignition circuit. Multiple connections could be touching. I recently replaced an ignition control module that was going bad. It was pulling power while the engine was running and draining the battery when it was off. The point is a bad electrical device can cause this problem. Whatever the problem it needs to be hooked to a diagnostic machine or troubleshooted by a mechanic to pinpoint the problem. Hopefully this gives you a place to start.

Ford focus 2005 battery light stays on new alternator , battery only 6 months old

First, a bad battery doesn't turn the light on. Just A bad alternator or ECM. Start the car. put a volt meter on the + and - sides of the battery. If it reads 12 to 15 volts (closer to 15 for a new alternator). The alternator is good. And is charging. The problem is the wiring or the ECM. It can be bypassed to turn the light off. I just did it a week ago. Problem is , I don't have the wiring diagram for your car. Don't get a book from the parts store, it won't tell you. Go to alldata or Mitchell and purchase a manual. It's online and lasts a year. But they give you good electrical schematics...

2006 focus battery drain

The light stays on? then that is the drain, check and see if you pull fuse that controls that light will battery still drain. i would bet that this is the problem, if it is the problem let me know in a few days and i will check a wiring diagram to try and see what controls that light. i believe the keyless entry module does but lets see if that is the problem.

try removing the dashlight fuse over night or even light few, until that light goes out and let me know.

I have 2002 Ford Focus w/104,000 miles. The

sounds like your alternator isnt functioning correctly.
you can have this tested at a local garage, normally for free. when the engine is running, it should show around 14 amps on a multimeter. also check the battery is serviced. check the fluid levels and a full charge

Rear turn signal and hazard light don't flash (left side only)

The rear left turn signal bulb must be replaced immediatly before it melts the light socket, if it has'nt yet. Also please verify that the correct light bulb is being installed. because even though many bulbs look the same they are not identical. Installing the wrong bulb can be the begining of many, many problems in the particular circuit

Battery light stays on with key removed

The diodes in your alternator are bad. they are allowing bleedback of voltage. you will eventually need to replace it as it will drain your battery. Not a big deal until it leaves you stranded but the battery light in your dash does not use alot of power.

My ford focus 2000 se is having problems keeping a charge, but I am still able to push start it and it will run until I turn it off.

sounds like a drain such as glove box or trunk light not making contact to fully close the light causing it to stay lit causing a draw or a bad alternator or even a dead cell in the battery

Good day;
This is a hard one with out looking at the vehicle, but I give it a try. The two codes you have are for deferential pressure electronic low voltage and high voltage. First thing that I would do is check your connection on your MAF sensor, mass air flow located left side of eng compartment behind battery. Then I would check if the sensor is working proper. Please let me know if this works. I will be thinking about this one to see if there is something else.

Cheers
