Question about 2008 Pontiac G6

1 Answer

Why would my service traction light be coming on and off when ever it feels like it. It came on during a rain storm and would go off a couple of days later, and then it came on again a few months after and did the same thing. now it came on back in Dec, and has just recently started to not come on but then come back on about 10-15 min into my trip. what could be causing this? is it actually not working or is it just a sensor?

These vehicles have a common failure in the wiring to the wheel speed sensors in the front wheels, the wires will get corrosion in them and when they get wet or stretched they will give a false reading to the computer and turn traction control lights on... these vehicles also have a high failure rate of the abs sensors themselves.

Have a Traction Active light on when I turn left at a slow speed.

EITHER YOU HAVE A HUB ASSEMBLY/ABS SENSOR FAILING IN THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL. THE IMPALA'S ARE REALLY BAD ABOUT CUTTING/TEARING WIRES THAT RUN TO THE ABS SENSOR. PULL THE WHEEL OFF AND CHECK YOUR WIRING TO THE SENSOR IF IT LOOKS GOOD THEN YOU WILL NEED A NEW SENSOR/HUB ASSEMLY.

I just recently purchased a 2007 Ford Focus SES that had only 75000 km. I have never driven a car with traction control on it. We had a snow storm, and when I accelerated to about 45 km per hour, I had a...

All vehicles will slide in the snow. Traction control or not. What traction control does, in simple terms...Is when your wheel start to slip, which is detected by some sensors, it lowers the vehicles throttle position, slows the RPM's down, even if your foot is still on the gas, for a matter of seconds, until the wheels stop slipping. So when you feel or hear your vehicles engine slowing down on its own, its best to just let off the gas and let it go for a couple seconds. A way to test the traction control...From a stop, if you are in the snow, and you push the gas down a good bit, make it spin, and the vehicle should seem to power down on its own, while the light comes on, if it does not do this, then traction control would not be working. Hope this helped.

The service engine soon light would have nothing to do with the oil or the coolant. There are many things that can cause the SES to come on, and some of them will cause the traction off light (TRAC OFF) or similar to come on because the traction has been dissabled. You will need to have the check engine light codes scanned. There will be trouble codes stored in the computer. From there the problem would need to be diagnosed, problem repaired, then codes cleared. Here is site with a list of some typical trouvble codes......
