After it clicks 2-6 times and then starts, does it crank really slowly or fast? If it is cranking slowly, it sounds like you're battery is weak and should be replaced. If it is cranking fast, then your starter is going bad and should be replaced.

Starting problem (see details), on 1998 Town & Country.

Check your battery cables and starter cables especially the connectors and bolts under the hood. The bolts and connections could be loose or corroded. Check the connections near the battery and on the battery since many times mechanics mess with these the most. My guess is something is loose if it starts well most times, but fails occasionally. Did you look for blinky codes or DTCs? A '47' (or P0562) could mean a bad battery or alternator, and a '12' (or P1684) could indicate intermittent connections. Do the dome lights dim or stay well lit when the clicking is heard during cranking? If so, then the issue is most likely near the battery and if not then the issue is more likely near the starter. Good luck. There are a lot of wires under the hood.

My Van is temperamental when starting, it just clicks then it will start, the start time varies and sometimes it starts immediately what can this be?

not knowing the make , model and year of the van it is hard to say why it is using fuel
if it is EFI controlled then run the fault codes first as any work done without knowing what is wrong will be a waste of cash
as for the starter problem, it could be a problem starter relay or stater motor
pull the starter and have it bench tested by an accredited auto electrician

My doge grand caravan 3.8 liter handicap conversation van . Will some times make a clicking sound and will not start !!!

Hopefully it is a loose connection on your battery. In my case it was a loose wire on my starter I believe a loose or corroded wire or ground on starter ,alternator or battery can cause this symptom.

Y is my auto shutdown relay clicking and van wont start

The last time I saw this, it turned out to be a bad ECM due to shock. This was a Grand Caravan which didn't have any major damage as a result of the colision.

Starter motor relay! - not sure which one it is - definitely sounds like starter relay tho.
if you disconnect the main wire from the starter and turn the key you will kear the relay clicking, find it and replace it... should solve your problem.

Check your battery voltage. It may be new battery time.

Engine start problems

the problem could be the starter, battery, battery cables, or alternator. the clicking could most likely be the starter going bad if not bad already or the battery weak or bad battery cables, if you have good power to everything else radio headlamps and heater the i would start by replacing starterlet me know what you find.
