Replace the dash mounted ignition switch at a 2000 malabu

first disconnect negative battery terminal. ( on models equipped with the theift lock audio system, be sure the lock out system is turned off, before disconnecting battery ). first remove dash board trim around the trim has to come off of dash. after removing trim on dash, there are 2 screws to re move ignition swith remove these screws, then pull out switch and disconnect the wiring connector. you may have to wiggle the switch one way or the other to get it out. the trim on dash just pulls straight out. us something to get behind trim and pop it out. be carful the trim will crack very easy. good-day !!

Hi, i got a Saturn LS 2 1998, and i need to change the electronic flasher. i would like to know its location. I've been told it might in the dash board area, I don't know where. Please...

Hope this helps!

The turn signal flasher is located in the IPJB. Check the label on the back of the trim panel for the exact location on your vehicle.

To replace the flasher, simply grasp and pull it straight out. Align the contacts on the replacement flasher with its mounting position in the IPJB, then push it in place.

Instrument Panel Junction Block (IPJB)

  1. Remove the lower right trim panel from the instrument panel center column. Separate the Velcro™ fastener at the bottom of the trim panel and carefully unsnap the top corners of the panel from the fasteners.
  2. Remove the applicable fuse or relay from the IPJB, based on the identification label located on the back of the trim panel. A plastic puller is also located on the trim panel to ease fuse removal.
  3. Installation is the reverse of removal

Need to get into dash radio has a loose wire

this is fairly easy the trim around the radio and guages is simply held in with tabs. Carefully pull the trim off 1 by 1, be carefull when by the fog light switch as you will have to disconnect the plug to fully remove the trim. Once you have the trim piece off the radio should be held in by 2 bolts, remove the bolts and pull out the radio, be carefull however as they usually don't give a lot of wire, so remove the radio slowly and unplug the wires then you should be able to get inside the dash and find the problem.

How to change ashtray light in 2000 silverado truck

Remove the ashtray. Pull the plastic dash cover loose with a trim tool. Remove the passenger airbag switch (no need to unplug) and adjoining blank plate from thier slots with trim tool. You will see the lamp and cable on the right side. Stick your finger into the top of the empty ashtray slot and push up on the lamp clip to release. Fish the lamp out with a thin screw driver and twist the shade cover off. Pull the bulb straight out. Replace and reverse for installation. RE-clipping the assy into the housing might require removing the accessory frame that holds the airbag switch, but if you have limber fingers you should be able to reconnect.

How do I remove the fan switch to replace it on the dash under the radio?

Have your radio code before you pull it out with the right radio tool. This pull would involve removing this parts.
  1. Glove compartment
  2. Driver side panel
  3. Center top dash board
  4. Defrost switch carrier
  5. Radio unit
  6. Center lower half of dash
So I'd suggest go to your local public library and look for your car manual. It would be either Chiltons or Clymers manual, it's not as precise a Bentley VW Official factory repair manual. Yes it really involves taking all those parts out just to get to the rotary switch.

Just remove the 4 screws and then slowly pull the cluster out and reach behind and disconnect the plugs on the back of the unit and then remove the cluster. The bulbs can be removed by turning them and pulling out.

Paint removed from vent trim on dash

these vents should snap in. If you look closely at the inside of the vent, there should be either two U shaped cuts on either side with the bottom of the U facing you, or maybey a couple of metal tabs. Either way, you should be able to place a precision screwdiver into the tab and pry it inward on one side then gently pull that side to you. It should rock outwards and come out of the dash if you pull it to the side you took out first. Let me know if this helps :)

Odometer back lighting is out.

You can probably find a picture tutorial by looking at forums dedicated for your car. Also try asking around car audio forums as they are constantly pulling dash boards and working with the associated wiring and such. As for doing yourself, there are some makeshift tools you will need. A small "stubby" flat head screw driver and a cat's paw will come in handy for removing the dash trim. Dash trim uses metal and plastic clips to secure it at various points around the cluster and air vents. Simply slide the cats paw behind a crack in the dash and gently pry around the entire assembly starting at the heavier guage plastic and ending with the thinner and or smaller sections. There will be a couple fasteners under the dash-above the gas and brake-that will use phllips head and i believe 5/16th and 1/4 drive bolts. Once the dashboard trim is removed, rest it on the steering column and make note of where the push pull fasteners are and if they need to be replaced for a snug re-installation. (Pepboys' Help! isle carries these by the bag full) The instrument cluster will have a mylar or similar plastic shielding which is secured by a couple fasteners and easily removed so that you can reach into the area behind and find the culprit bulb(s). I do not know what car you intend on working on and there may be variations to this teqnique if fiber optic lighting is used.
