2001 does not have a crank sensor.... just a camshaft sensor in front of motor. no crank sensor st starter. I have a 2001 dodge cummins 3500 automatic .... when i bought it i had it checked out at dealership it had 20 psi on lift pump but they said lift pump was bad. truck loses throttle response at low rpm and speed after 55 runs fine. now its having trouble starting acts like its flooding and diesel fuel is getting in the oil. i changed lift pump still had 20 to 22 psi so that was wasted money. have also spent 4 hours hunting the engine over with starter and exhaust off trying to install a crank sensor the dealer sold me .... i tell ya its BAD when the guys at ADVANCE AUTO know more than the dealer.. they said it dont have a crank sensor but it does have a cam sensor. right above the injection pump in a hard to get to hole!!! let me know if yall got any ideas... think my code is a 0160 something about injection timing is wrong... dont remember right now and the paper is in the shop.... thanks for any help maybe i can find this fourm again i am new to this.

Cummins diesel in 2001 Dodge is cutting out and mild surge. code#s are P0500,P0370 P1693

you have codes related to the pcm, transfer pump and a vehicle speed sensor. these could be related or all individual issues. related issued could be wiring, untill you start doing testing it will be hard to tell.
start cheap and test the speed sensor first, then you can clear the codes and continue on any codes come back.

Disconnect the PCM harness connector(s).
Disconnect the Vehicle Speed Sensor harness connector.
Note: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Measure the resistance of the 5 Volt Supply circuit between the VSS harness
connector and the PCM harness connector.
Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms?

Hello i have a 2001 stratus sedan cranks over but wil not start. it is getting spark but not fuel to the engine.if it is the fuel filter or pump can you direct me to the source

Filter is not the likely reason. First see if you can hear the pump come on when the key is turned to "on" (not "start").
If the pump is on, check for fuel at the engine by loosening the connector downstream of the filter. Don't take it off, just crack it loose while the pump is running to see if you get a little squirt. If no fuel there, try cracking open the other side of the filter. If still no fuel, you pump impellers are bad and the pump must come out.
If the pump isn't coming on at all, check the fuse and relay under the hood. You can verify it's getting power to the relay and that the relay is working by using the tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6022358-relay_check.
If the relay is working, use a test light to check for voltage at the fuel pump connector at the fuel tank. If there is no voltage at the pump, you have a wiring issue between the relay and the tank connector.
Please let me know if you have questions.

Were is fuel cut off switch on a 2001 1500 chev. pickup

This does not have a fuel cutoff switch, you may have a bad fuelpump which is very common, a trick to try is to have someone crank the truck while you beat the bottom of the tank with a rubber hammer, this shakes the pump making it pump, try this see if the truck starts if it does then replace the fuel pump, another test is to check for power and ground at the pump connector, there should be power for a few sec, when key is on or cranking. hope this is helpful.

Please help i have no power to intank fuel pump.i have checked the relay .what else can i check

Fuse and pump ground. You say no power to pump. Did you remove electrical connector at pump to check that? It may time out if the PCM doesn't see a crank signal. Don't know, just a thought.

Dodge cummins won't start, fuel reaching injector pump but no fuel coming out of injector pump.

You said you have fuel flowing from the inlet line of the injection pump? But not at the injector lines?

No fuel

the fuel pump relay is up under the drivers pedals right hand side white relay, only thing is it wont be the relay thats at fault, it will either be the intank fuel pump/sender, or a loose terminal on the connector on the pump/sender under the black square panel under the rear seat base, under carpet, unfortunately it all comes as one unit. {worked for kings volvo dealer for 13 years} ade.
