The Ford dealer can't re-programming the keys? For this job they don't need re-programming the computer or PATS module, just the new keys, according this procedure...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Programming a PATS II Key
Ordered a PATS II key ( Passive Anti Theft System ) from Torrie McPhail at Ford Parts Network ( http://www.fordpartsnetwork.com/ ). The key, cut for the truck ( using the VIN ), shipped to door was only $24.85. Ford Parts Network is a great company to do business with; highly recommended.

I am able to program the new key ( PATS II ) myself ( on my 99 ) since I have two good ( programmed ) keys, if I had only one key, it would have been necessary to have a Ford dealer or specialty locksmith make the key ( unless the truck was a pre 98 with a PATS I system; then only one good key is needed ). I have been told that the cost of this programming and a key is around $100.

The programming procedure is as follows: insert the first good key turn it to the run position wait until the security light goes out, turn to lock and remove the key'; now insert the second good key and repeat the step; finally insert the new key and repeat. The security light will light up for three seconds to indicate that the new key has been successfully programmed.

That's all there is to programming the new key; total time less than one minute.

Moral of this story - even if you have two good keys, order another ( or 2 ) and program them yourself and avoid future headaches and expense.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, I quote some comments from Explorer forums...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you do a search, I have not had the time yet, but if I find it I will put it up. I think it was expo 5.0 that did program a key only using 1 key. Now for the tricky part. If you remove your lock cylinder from the steering column the plastic ring that is around the cylinder can now be removed. This is the ring which the chip communicates with.

Remove the ring and put the cylinder back in the hole but do not put the pickup ring back on the column yet. You should at this point be able to move the ring away from the new key and cylinder so it does not pick up the new key. Hold the old key at the ring, do the key turns with the new key then when it is time to program the new key hold the ring next to it so the new key is read. Come to think of it you may just be able to turn the ignition switch on and off with a screwdriver when the lock cylinder is out of the column.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope this helps.

Anti theft bypass on 99 ford ranger??????

Technically, you can't bypass it. Neither can the car thieves.
The security module is built into the instrument cluster and it "talks" to the engine computer. The two components have to be sync-ed with the key codes.
You may be able to hot-wire the coil and fuel pump but I doubt the injectors will work since the computer will be out of service.
Usually a dealer has to reprogram the cluster and computer with the new key code.

When starting motor first all gauges respond until theft light comes on then motor shuts off what do i do

Your security is malf or triggering because 1. Car key or computer has lost its programming, 2. You lost your original keys, 3. Passlock security system is faulty... These cars come equipped with Ford's PassLock theft system. This system requires a key with an internal chip in it and must be programmed for the vehicle before it's usable. In some cases even if you are still using the original key, the key or computer may lose programming. If this is the case you must have the key reprogrammed by the dealer.

I can't open the car door with the key, i have to use the beeper but for some reason that is not connecting with the car (03 ford expidition). The car has two alarms, one i turned off with a key...

The key fob battery, the theft module , must be causing the problem. The car not getting open with key, may be key needs reprogramming.-------- There is a battery in a key fob, many a times battery gets weak or dead, causing the problem. But if battery in key fob is already replaced, then theft alarm needs to be reprogrammed by the dealer. The theft system is not letting the car to start.----------- Both key fob and theft module needs to be reprogrammed by the dealer. Its done by a reprogramming scanner. Not a error code scanned, but a reprogramming tool scanner.----------- That will only pin point the problem,if the theft module is got faulty or just needs reprogramming.---------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Key wont start truck

try using spare key might be the anti theft system does not recognize this key also if you have a remote car starter use it if it starts this way you have to get a new key but if not you might need a new ignition switch and then dealer has to reprogram the anti theft system. try lock smith key places some can use your vin number to re-cut you a new key much cheaper then the dealer.

My car will not start due to theft do i need to replace transciever ring or no

The car will need to be towed to the dealer and they can reprogram it. Be sure to bring ALL of you keys so they can program them all or the others will not work. This has to be done through their PATS system on their laptop. No other way around it.

Anti-Theft

Do your locks work on the SUV? Somethings the locks can set the anti theft off. But if your locks work then that means your the chip in the key is bad or its not reading the key at all. More than likely you will have to get a new key and have it reprogrammed. Dealer is the only place to get the key.
