SOURCE: Have a 1986 Chrysler New
you may try draining the fluid and replacing the filter check the pan for metal deposits and if none reinstall new fluid with Lucas transmission additive at a ratio of 50% it sounds like your valve body or internal pump is leaking pressure due to a worn seal and this lucas treatment should help for a while, if not you a least tried before sourcing a new or rebuilt trans axle good luck and please rate- Jeff

The over drive band is damage inside or the valve body has to be repaired, I would take to the transmission shop. The transmission is going to have to be repaired internally
