Check for a blown fuse. If it's ok then test the switch for continuity when pushed in. If that's OK, then check the solenoid on the trunk latch for looseness. It might just need lubrication. A trip to a junk yard for a switch or a solenoid may be needed.
check fuse first, then pull switch out of drivers door and test wires on backside of switch to see if any read voltage, (need a tester) if u find voltage most likely its a bad switch, if no voltage check fuses and relays
you need a wire harness for your car you can buy them at most auto parts stores make sure and buy the one for your make and model they should have instructions and the wiring diagram most harnesses are color coded and pretty simple to install
