Yes. It will corrode the aluminum engine parts. Use only unleaded regular 89 octane fuel.

If its running o.k. Than I would bet the check engine light is on because there are codes for system too lean. Burn off the tank of e-85 as soon as you can, than fill with regular unleaded. The light should go out after several drive cycles after everything has gone back to normal or you can swing by ou local parts store and see if they can clear the codes

Can I run ethynol (e85) fuel in my 1998 grand voyager. Have always used unleaded 89 octane. Has 200,00 miles.

98 was the first year chrysler introduced an E85 compliant minivan. This only applies to the 3.3 liter engine. The 3.8 liter is NOT compatible.

We have a 99 and this is what we found. It ends up costing us more to run E85 than regular fuel. E85 is less efficient and will decrease your fuel economy 25-30%. Currently the price offset does compensate for this and as a result you will fill up more often and will not see a significant savings after the math is done.

Chrysler also recommended, at the time, to use a special E85 compliant oil which also costs more money. You can check with your local chrysler dealer to see if this is still true.

Mileage has dropped on last three tanks of gas from 23 to 18 mpg - live in Omaha so it is cold.

Take the car to your local dealer or technician and have them check for trouble codes. If none are present, check/replace your air filter. If that doesn't solve the problem, you might be a victim of E85 unleaded gasoline. Ethynol has about 30% less energy content than undiluted gasoline. That means you need to burn about 30% more E85 to get the same amount of work out of the engine. Your loss so far is about 22%...have you switched fuel suppliers?

It could go off after running some unleaded gas such as a couple gallons of 'premium unleaded' through it. But you should also try to reset it. To do this follow these simple steps:

1. Write down the radio code of the car.
2. Disconnect the battery negative terminal for about twenty minutes. Then reconnect back the battery negative terminal.
3. The indicator light should be 'off'.

dirty fuel fiter, yes. But also certain models require mid or premium grade gasoline. regular unleaded has more water in it than premium. Hense the pinging. When was the last time you have your fuel injectors cleaned. Try adding a gas treatment like STP gas treatment/fuel injector cleaner, that should help. If it continues then its the fuel filter or the fuel pump is also going out.

When i put in gas car spits and spudders clears out untill gas agian

Sound to me like you have water in the bottom of your fuel tank. when you fill it the water is mixed with the gas until it settles. put some gas line antifreeze into the fuel tank, may take several bottles. but this should help. if not you will have to have tank taken off and drained.

Dodge Dakota Pick-up Truck - 1995

hello matilda,

im not sure if the reason is the leaded gasoline that you put, but if you want to replace the gasoline in the tank, you can trace if there is a drain bolt under the tank then drain the gas in the tank. be safety consious since your handling flamamble liquids. then if you can trace your fuel line that goes to the engine, you can flush that too with air. then when your sure that the tank is empty and the lines are clean, you can fill it up with your correct unleaded gas and have a good battery ready and crank your engine until the new gas is in the engine already and i hope it would start now.

i hope i was able to help you.

pls rate me..

tnx
