It's on the back of the instrument cluster.

Mitsubishi Mighty Max has 170,000 miles on it and maintenance light came on and will not go off

Yes, unplug the battery for 30 seconds, and the ECU will reset. If the light comes on again, get the error code read to see what the ECU thinks is the problem. At 170,000 miles, this is likely burning oil causing a misfire, might be the engine temp sensor wires are broken (causes hard starts when cold), might just be low power steering oil or even worn brake pads causing a low brake fluid level.

How do I go about manually resetting the maintenance required light on my 2.4L 1992 Mitsubishi Mighty Max pickup truck?

When service to the emission control system has been completed slide the switch to the opposite position, turning off the warning light.
If the service was for the 120,000 mile interval remove the warning light bulb.

CAUTION: If the speedometer is to be replaced set the odometer to the same reading as the odometer being removed. (consult your local motor vehicle laws)

How to reset maintenance required light for 1991 mitsubishi mighty max

there is a small switch behind one of the switch blank off plates to the right of the steering column. It is a very small switch about 6" deep into the dash, hard to find easy to reset.

My maintenance required light is on...1994 mighty max...i added oil, what else do i check?

just learned this morning, there is a switch on the side of the steering column that has a cap over it. The light comes on at certain mileage so you know when to get big things done, like new timing belt. Check your manual for maintenance due, then open that cap and flip the switch inside to shut the light off.

How do you shut off the "maintenance Req" light on the instrument panel? 1988 Mitsubishi Mighty Max

There is a small switch located on the back of the innstrument cluster on the speedometer near where the cable mount to. remove the cover off of the cluster, sometimes easiest to locate a night (makes it easier to see) with a flash light looking in thru the windshield, simply click switch back over, after 25K miles you'll need to do again.
Please let me know if this had assisted you.
Thanks,
Tom

Maintenance required light comes on. I need to

Hi. normally, this warning concerns minor service like a oil change needed or some minor flushing of the transmission or radiator(coolant system). I wouldn't take this warning lightly. Check your oil just to make sure its not low or extremely black. you can also check the consistency by gathering a small amount of oil with your finger tips and rubbing it in between your pointer finger and thumb. if the oil feels gritty and not smooth, its time to change it. there may be small microscopic metal fragments that can ruin the cylinder walls and much more.

Check the coolant level as well. make sure the overfill tank is filled to the right level.

A diagnostic cpu scan wouldn't hurt as well. this is good preventive maintenance and will save you money.

Please rate and god bless:)

The van requires a scan of the computer for the reset. Most shops do charge a fee to do this.
