Looked there for it and no luck. The VIN # refers to a Cougar LS, but it is actually a 1992 Mercury Cougar XR-7 Special Edition. I still cannot find this turn signal flasher.

If is located on the fuse box. Find the fuse box under the steering wheel near the brake pedal.
Here is a picture of the unit you are looking for.

Been on partsgeek already. Still looking for the location. :-(

  • Gale Todd Jul 06, 2011

It is located in a clip on a bracket to the right of the steering column

Thanks. I think my son got one from a junk yard and it still doesn not work. Maybe that one was dead also. If it's not the flasher, what else could it be? My turn signal comes back after engaging left or right. ?????Turn signal switch???? Thank you soooooo much for your help!

  • Gale Todd Jul 06, 2011

What does your turn signal do? Does it show left and right indicator? You say it "comes back" after engaging, meaning after you hit left or right it returns to positions? Give me more idea of what you are experiencing. We can get this fixed, no major issue here

I thought I already replied to this post. Sorry! :-( No indicator lights come on and the torn signals in front and rear do not work. When I use the signal arm, it still comes back in place after making the turn. It is kind of weird because I used to have this problem on and off about a year ago. Then being unemployed, car sat, and then they stopped working all together. Thanks!!!!!!! Michael

Where is the location of the turn signal flasher for 19999 mercury cougar?

If you remove the lower half of the steering column it is behind the turn signal. It is a black box type fuse. Just unplug and plug in new fuse. Hope this helps :). Good-Day!

Do you know where the hazzerd relay is located on

The Turn Signal/Hazzard Flasher its located on top of steering column. You have to remove the steering column cover and the flasher relay is located underneath the turn signal. To install it is fairly easy but it doesn't tell you where it is located anywhere in the manual. It took awhile to figure it out.

More details and diagrams can review in autozone.com (free register)...

Hope this helps (remember rated this help). Good luck.

Turn signal stopped working 1990 Mercury Cougar

I had the same problem and the flasher is not located in the fuse box because it is not a normal flasher. the cougar has an electronic flasher unit that is located on the left side of the center console. the best and cheapest place to order a new one is amazon.com. they run about $30-$40

Underneth your driverside dash. Its a small black relay. You can go to Autozone and they should be able to show you where and how to replace it
