Remove the storage tray from the back of the driver and passenger seats. This can be a trick in itself. You have to squeeze together some body style clips with needle nose pliers going in from the bottom where the tray section meets the seat fabric. When you get the right and left hand side clips free the tray panel should just tilt out at bottom. Then just slide the whole tray panel up and then you can pull it out. Now you can get to the head rests. From the inside of the seat you can see the 2 head rest posts that connect to the cushion portion of it. Follow the 2 posts up until you see the black plastic sleeves they slide in. Take some channel locks and grab the black sleeves and turn them (they only turn one way) until the cut outs in the bottom of the sleeves are facing the front and rear of the van rather than the right and left sides. Once these are turned you can easily lift the whole head rest out.

I also had read this advise on Topix.com. The problem stems from the fact that the solution is for a 2008 Uplander instead of a 2007. I looked for the "body style clips" to no avail. It isn't possible to access anything from the bottom of the storage tray on a 2007 Chevy Uplander. Thank you for trying though, I really do appreciate it:)

On a Chevy 2007 Uplander there is not a button nor a pinhole that will allow the headrests to be removed. The hacksaw on the other hand would solve the problem but, also, create another one being as I want to install car seat covers;)

How do you remove rear headrests?

Tracy, Some just pull straight up and out, there may be a pin hole, lever or button just under head rest which will release and allow head rest to be pulled up or pushed down, it does take some force as they do like to get stuck.
Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

2007 Chevy Uplander Rear Overhead A/C Vents Won't Work

Have you checked the Aux switch near the bottom of the center control console.
There should be a knob with: Aux, Off, 1, 2, 3. This is the switch for the rear AC blower.
If the driver wants to control the rear AC, use the 1, 2, 3 settings.
If you put it on Aux, Than the rear AC is controlled by the passenger in the back seat using the extra controls located on the Overhead DVD player. (The front AC must be on the rear to work)
