Pull the steering wheel. Remove the column cover and there is a spring band round the ignition mechanical part which when raised releases it. They also had an internal spring design which had a small hole in the casing.- put a punch in the hole and remove the tumblers with the key turned to accessories. The electrical was held on with a small screw.

When i turn key off it continues to try and start and eventually runs battery down

Jeffs solution (above) is for a different problem. If the Starter Motor continues to turn with the Ign. Sw. off, yours won't be a Starter Motor problem. However, the most likely cause is either the wire to the Starter Solinoid or the Solinoid itself.

I can't see the alternator being the cause either, as suggested above.
Try this
Disconnect the thin wire from the Solinoid (this is the one that activates the Starter when you turn the key).
With the battery charged, the Starter shouldn't work. Put the wire back and try again. If the same problem is there, quickly remove the wire.
One of 2 things will happen:-
1: The Starter will stop. The cause is in the wire to the Ign. Sw. or the Ign. Sw.
2: The Starter will continue turning. Repair or replace the Solinoid.

I want to take apart the front suspension on my 1973 dodge challenger . I'm looking for a diagram showing the complete front suspension parts .So I don't get lost putting it back together later and a parts...

You might be better off with a digital camera, and take your own pictures of the areas that you think may cause you to scratch your head later when re-assembling. Once on your computer, you can zoom or whatever as needed. If that's not an option, get back to me/us, and we'll dig a little harder and see what we can find.

How to change ignition switch on a 92 4w drive k1500 series truck, manual transmission

When you say ign sw,do you mean the key and tumbler or the ign sw under the dash?
the key and tumbler needs the steering wheel removed then you will clearly see a small screw remove it and the switch slides out.
Now if under, remove the knee bolster and you will see the switch on the side of the steering column tahe the two wire harness out remove the two screws and reverse for install.
