On the Receiver Dryer, there may be a GLASS WINDOW (Circle) on the top. That is how you can see if there is ANY FLOW of freon.

There is a Pressure Switch that you can unplug and make a shorting wire and loop the 2 prong back into itself and see if the compressor will start, if it does, changes are you have a leak. There is more information needed to assist you.

Ideally the best way would be to put R-134a gauges on the car and you will be able to get the correct information

Crystalbr453,

If the AC is not being blown cold there could be a few things wrong. However, the best place to start would be with a recharge of the system. If you push the AC button and you feel the system kick in but not cold air is present I would definitely point at no freon. In which case, you do not want to run it without freon.

Good luck

Fix AC system

A few things could be wrong here. 1. if your running low on anti-freeze and your engine is getting hot, the thermal switch on the AC compressor will shut it off until it cools down. 2. You could be low on freon. 3. Your compressor may be bad with leaks.

My ac condenser does not work

Do you mean the compressor?

Assuming there are no leaks, you could just need a little freon. But, If the fan (on the radiator) is not kicking on then your compressor may not come on either as it needs the fan to run to help keep the compressor cool. Typically it stems from being low on freon though and Autozone sells freon you can self administer but I would advise asking someone familiar with adding freon to help you so that you don't over fill or try to fill it from the wrong port.

On my BMW 325XI Wagon, the ac is not cooling, the drier, expansion valve, compressor & ac control module have been replaced. Starts to cool as low as 65 degrees & then compressor shuts off.

sounds like unproper ac evacuation before charging the freon to your ac system. do a proper evacuetion to the system check the ac compressor oil charge the proper freon & amount check the vehicle tag for the amount of freon under the wood close to the radiator

Ford Ranger 1994 - AC stopped working - AC system pressure way hi

There is a low side pressure switch on the dryer, remove the plug in connector and use a wire to connect the two circuits together on the plug,if the ac compressor runs, and the ac cools fine, replace this switch,it just unscrews, and you will not loose any freon.

I changed the air compressor and the dashboard control panel last year and it has done ok. Now the temp. fan and the compressor fan won't kick in and the air compressor won't kick in also. Checked all...

You say temp fan?If you mean the cooling fans, then the ac is out of freon most likely, the freon has to be in the system, and enough to kick the compressor on,therefore turning the cooling fan on.

2002 pontiac grand prix gt AC only blows hot air compressor full of freon and clutch spinning good temp control actuators working corectly narrow ac tube at firewall very cold thicker ac tube at firewall...

i had same problem 2 years ago. the actuator door tube was snapped in half and i used acquarium tubing to splice together. The tube runs along the passenger front well well inside engine and meets under the battery carriage. I could not tell anything was wrong without removing the battery to get a closer look. works like a champ now.

Also: there is also an inline venturi filter that fits in the aluminum tubing on the compressor, it may be clogged. You will have to have the freon sucked out to replace the filter. Check back with me so I can help more if this doesnt solve your problem.

You must of lost freon and when there is no freon your clutch will not activate.Must check it for pressure in the lines. If there is pressure check pressure switch.Good luck let me know

Car full of freon, air conditioner still not cooling

Yes the system can be full of freon and yet not work, the pressure switch could faulty, the expansion valve too could be faulty, he drier receiver too.
On switching 'on' the AC , is the AC compressor workingor rather does it engage?
The AC compressor clutch too could be not functioning.
I guess you have to go step by step to check first if the AC compressor does rotate on switching 'on' the AC.
