Question about Chrysler PT Cruiser

1 Answer

The car will be fine for a few days and then.....it will just start stalling....almost asd if it ran out of gas. There is no ryme or reason. It doesn't stutter before stalling. it just stalls. It's happened to me while going 50-70mph on a highway. it's happened while going 10-15 in a residential zone. it's also happened while sitting at lights or taking a turn. Could it be a fuel pump problem?

Check first the fuel filter if it needs replacing. If it is an EFI engine see if you can get a scanner to its diagnostic port to scan for errors. It may also be a bad fuel pump relay or wiring.

You have to find the reason the check engine light is on. This will aid in diagnostics. Also, are you buying fuel at the same place both times?

I have a chevy s10 2.2 2003 truck and one day it ran about five miles. then stalled. it started back up idled fine but put it in gear. stalled again. had to get towed home replaced the fuel filter,truck...

When you press on the gas when the truck is running, does it rev up?

Did it die while driving down the road (foot on the accelerator) or when idle? - If so, try cranking it and get your RPMs up to 1500-2000 RPMs and put it in drive (with your other foot on the brake). See if it will continue running if you never take your foot off the gas.

Stalls when under load "driving"

Check the ignition module. My car would run fine until it came up to full temp and then run bad. I continued driving the car while trying to diagnose the problem. It got worse and then one day the car stalled as if it ran out of gas (still had plenty in the tank). I was able to coast it into a parking spot and called for a ride. Upon returning, I tried to start it, started right up and ran fine. On the way home it started acting up again (once it was up to temp). It turned out to be the ignition module.
